The Nigerian economy is booming as things are going smoothly for everybody as even keke price is now over 4 million naira.

Too bad.....

Including the spare parts too..... Very expensive and fake ones are now in dominance............More reasons why I had to resign from the work cuz it wasn't funny anymore.....

Just like someone kindly advised me, I'm currently considering writing a book on my 4 years+ experience on Keke riding and hope to drop it here on Nairaland when I'm done with that...

This is not a good news
The buying power of Nigerians is reducing on daily basis.
The gap between the rich and the poor is becoming wider
The middle class is dissapearing gradually.
The Keke riders are not finding it funny, most especially those that got on higher purchase arrangement. That's why you see them always in a hurry, impatient and aggressive. How will they make 5.5m in 18 months.

Tinubu is a mistake.

Nigeria is currently in a terrible situation.
Some couple of years ago cars were bought for 80,000 naira, but now the reverse is the case.
I don't really know how we got here.

How much are the drivers charging now per trip.

Or would they buy it with such amount without making profits.

The day some people start taking responsibility/facing reality is the day they will start having solutions to their compounded problems

Actually in a way I would say this is good because if we all aren't seeing or experiencing this hardship face to face on a regular basis, these set of people who are being paid to kill their conscience all in the name of politics would have been saying something else entirely.

The administration is just a little over 2yrs in office and it seems as if it's been there for more than 50yrs.

We got here because a CBN governor was printing naira like monopoly money while a cartel of government- oil traders were using subsidies to impoverish the nation. The bill has come due and everyone will pay it.

And the naira printing CBN Governor didn't have a currency so bad as it is now?

Nigeria present economy is not smiling...

Nigerians have resorted to window shopping... while sellers are reducing products quality to achieve consumers buyable price...

My candid advice... let's prepare for the Nigeria next presidential election... I will be contesting... and will provide right solutions to reverse this present economic trends... and progress the wellbeing of every citizen...

What do you mean you don't know how we got here, Guobe? This is an interesting topic that should dominate frontpage.

In 1989, brand new Peugeot 504 was #80k. It was assembled in Nigeria. Volkswagen was assembled in Lagos. Leyland trucks in Ibadan.

Now all the Completely Knocked Down parts for these cars were imported. We weren't making anything. Then Babangida devalued the naira and those industries we had started dying off. Remember Bata shoes nao. Remember the textile industry. They all died with reduced purchasing power of the populace. People switched to tokunbo and we stopped manufacturing things we needed except for little things like sweets and biscuits and a few cosmetics.

We couldn't make components for tv and radio. The mobile phone industry came we couldn't manufacture anything that went into mobile phones. We import virtually everything.

Look at Taiwan. I bought my daughter a tennis racket days ago. I sent money and the racket was sent to me. It's a kennex. I googled it and it is a taiwanese product. Now that company was started in the backyard of the founder's father's house. It rose to become the world's largest racket maker cornering a quarter of the world market. It looks like a small thing but do you know how many people it would have employed way back then?

We don't have policies to enhance manufacturing. That's why we are here. Look at agriculture too. When you talk about food prices, some people say "go and start farming, lazy man". You feel like cursing such people. We have enough farmers in Nigeria already but the necessary industrial inputs and governmental policies are not available. The state governors are the most useless.

Look at education. So you see, that's how we got here. We are not deliberate about development. It's more about politics politics politics. And supporting useless politicians who don't care whether you lived or died. All in the name of tribalism and religion. Wo, let me stop

Do you do all this deliberately or something is wrong somewhere? This things you do here are no longer funny anymore. Can you imagine what you asking "how much are driver charging per trip now" why didn't you ask how much dey buy fuel now, maintenance and settlements on the road? Do you know how long it will take a family man on higher purchase to remit 6million back to the owner of the keke? That's if the keke is still in good shape. Y'all supported and called Buhari the best thing after slice bread and the man was busy destroying the economy now you have move to Tinubu who's busy burying the economy. Search your conscience and be careful nature has a way of paying everyone in their own coin. A word is enough

If we reduce the purchasing power of the people, we can further slow down the economy.Let's widen the tax net.🤸

You nailed it .well analysed.
The politicians like the way it is now depending so much on oil money.
The world is going green and moving away from oil and that is when catastrophe will hit us hard.
So unfortunate.

Excober08:
"I Met My Engineering Classmate Riding Keke Five Years After Graduation"

Dayo and Rukayat Studied Engineering at a University in kwara State. They were both Classmates and after Five years of Studying hard, they both graduated. After graduation, Fate took them through different paths of life.

5 Years later, Rukayat after much frustration of securing a job, ended up as a Secretary in a Building firm earning 50,000 Naira monthly.

Meanwhile, Dayo on the other hand, couldn't Secure a Job and ended up a Taxi Driver, He makes At least 5,000 daily and if he works for only 20 days in a month, He makes 100,000 Naira that month.

One Evening, Rukayat closed from work and was at the bus stop waiting for taxi when Dayo stopped. She hopped in when she discovered the taxi was going her way but little did she know it was Dayo. All through the journey, she was lost in her Phone.

She reached her bus Stop and after alighting, just when she was about paying, she took a look at the driver and their eyes met, wow! They were both happy.

"Is this you?" they both asked themselves simultaneously as if they planned it. Rukayat gave him money but Dayo insisted she keep it. He was happy to see her and for old time sake, he left the money for her even when she insisted that she wanted to pay. They both exchanged contact and left.

Well, Rukayat went home that night and was lost in thought. Not as if Dayo was looking bad but Dayo driving Taxi? She couldn't wrap her head around it. She Pitied him. Felt Sorry for him. If Dayo had allowed her she would have paid him and beg him to keep the change.

Little did she know that, Dayo actually has another Taxi running for him, He is a Land owner and he is planning on developing it soon. But because he was driving a Taxi, She felt Pity for him.

On the other hand, Dayo felt sorry for himself too. Before he slept that night, he remembered Rukayat, how neatly she dressed and nice she smells, "She must be earning over 300,000 Naira per month" he said to himself. He felt ashamed, He felt like a failure and he felt she was way ahead of him financially and otherwise.

Little did he know that, If Rukayat removes the transportation fare and feeding money from her monthly salary, it will take her at least 3 Months to earn what he earns monthly.

Sadly, this could be some of our reality, you measure your progress and success with that of your friends, Classmates and Relatives even with very limited information you have about them.

You think yours is worse because you look dirtier, you think yours is worse because you are not on Corporate wears, you think yours is worse because the other person acts and looks Nicer.

Stay Focused and Face your life. It's not a competition. Stop Comparing things, you don't have the full picture. Every one is running on his own lane. Be contented.

Be focused.
