The tax law is good. Many tribalistic voters will begin to use their head to vote when they understand that the kind of person they vote for can steal from their purse by diverting their hard earned money paid as tax. Peller must be one of those that voted tinubu through tribalism. Let him feel the heat. Most fulanis, Hausa and yoruba vote irresponsibility based on tribal and religious interest and not based on the desire to see the country ruled by the best non thieving politician. So when I saw the tax law, I was happy because I knew it will bring the lesson home. Only south South people bear the responsibility of feeding this nation since 1960, but with the new tax law, the big men that are targeted for taxing go wiseup
Nigerians will never learn.

Seems you don’t know when you’re typing, I just used income tax rates to do the calculations, how is your own PIT calculated ? I used 24% rate cos his gross income is above #3.2m

You better go collect nabteb form and start from there

Appletek:
Go and educate yourself on how PIT is computed and stop quoting me ignorantly.

Skodiswayze:
He is supposed to pay 24% of his gross income? So if he makes 40 million in a year, his tax must not be more than #4.6million kiss that fact

So, 24% of 40M is 4.6M,right?

Tax is compulsory and it's charge on your global income and based on your your residence
This is not true. You income from other countries are not subject to taxation in Nigeria. Nigeria can't tax Chevron on income made from Algeria.

Whether he went to school or not. When you make money by any means, you must pay TAX!
Even if you win N1bln via the lottery as an illiterate, you must pay TAX!!
You pay tax on your annual income. Low income, low tax, high income, high tax! Coming into limelight recently is irrelevant.
The avrage tax rate is about 20%, if he made N180mln gross last year, then he'd pay N36mln tax. N180mln is $116k. Wih all his plenty trending videos, particulalry the nonsense he's doing with that robot girl, he could have made that from Tik Tok and other apps.
All the police these celebrities carry about, is it not tax thats used to maintain them? Then the police that should be for me and you, Peller will carry them, but he's not paying tax??
So he should pay 36 millions for as tax? Companies don’t even pay such amount as tax.
Re: Peller Protests ₦36 Million Tax Bill From Lagos Government by Skodiswayze(m): 4:27pm On Aug 13, 2025
Your own brain doesn't need renovations, it needs total overhauling like Nigerias refineries. Personal income tax has something called "Minimum tax Payable" When they give you taxes, you are entitled to a minimum tax payable meaning it's not a must to pay all in full, but you can pay to an exact amount/limit as provided cos you're not a salaryman so stop fooling yourself man. Only salary earners have exact target, and it's deducted from their income, Peller will have to declare how much he makes, then pay his tax HIMSELF to the LIRS with his TIN. He has not declared his income to LIRS, how come they come up with the outrageous amount you better no use that your brain cross Lagos roads.

They charge him according to his boastful mouth

Not sure what you mean by only south south people
Since 1960

If you are referring to oil it is not people it is a fossil fuel
The south south people have no idea how it got there
Also very few of them even qualify as engineers in the industry

Now Nigeria civil war ended in 1970
It was not paid for by oil
Oil did not become an issue until 1973

1960 1973 oil was a minor or non issue
Nigeria did not borrow to fight the war and ended without debt
It was able to reabsorb Biafra and fund it without debt or oil
Do not forget that most of the so called south south was in Biafra

There is no doubt oil is very important to Nigeria but this idea that south south people feed Nigeria is wrong
When we had regions we had resources control and the South south was alway behind the West

There is no state in Nigeria that has ever contributed more than Lagos

Go and study this

At least I still have my dignity intact. Some of you trade yours for coins and still come online to give life lectures. Rest, philosopher. Continue defending someone that has no regard for his follow man just because he has made money, pray you don't fall a victim to such person

It's shameful.
Lagos that provides nothing to her inhabitants is charging them huge tax.
Anyway, we are waiting to witness the defeat of tinubu, come 2027.

His stinginess, backed by greed will soon push him into destruction. I hope he takes the advice and settle things before it gets out of hand. That is Lagos State, before they bill you 36m, they had done their home work because they know it's 50-50 chance that you will settle or want to cry witch hunt before the Nigerian media community.

Tallesty1:
Peller did not complete his education due to poverty, which in Nigeria is the product of decades-long governance inefficiencies, inequitable wealth distribution, and the absence of affordable, quality education.

Government investment in citizen capacity-building during Peller’s formative years was non-existent.
As with millions of Nigerians facing this systemic disadvantage, Peller struggled for survival until, through self-driven initiatives, he achieved economic success.

And boom! The vulturous Lagos State Government has issued a tax demand in millions.

This is a standard operational pattern:

1. Provide no structural support at the foundational stage.

2. Apply maximum fiscal extraction at the success stage.

This is why, when Human Development Index (HDI) is raised, they quickly deflect to Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) — because HDI measures accountability, and accountability exposes failure.

Check PITA 2004, PITAM 2011 and the new tax laws. A resident Nigerian income is liable to tax on his/her global incme.

Don't mind them! Clearly they dont pay tax. Celebrities be running up and down Lagos flaunting wealth and harrassing us with their sports cars, yet the dont pay tax. if I were in charge of LIRS, Burna Boy, Whiz Kid, Rema, Tiwa, Don Jazzy go hear am. Anyway this new Tax Law will help tighten the noose around evasion. Me wey dey pay N2mln tax a month, it really peppers me.
This year alone, Peller has celebrated buying TWO cars - Benz and Range Rover - and a house in Lekki that reportedly cost hundreds of millions of naira.

36 million naira tax in that scenario is negligible.

Well yes, if you’re displaying wealth, that’s from your earnings and you should be taxed.

But LIRS also has your BVNs and sees some of the money coming in, so they make a rough estimate.

If he wants to contest this, let him submit his bank statements and his streaming earnings. But we know he won’t do that.

The main issue here is HOW DID YOU CALCULATE HIS TAX TO BE ₦36 MILLION NAIRA? What parameters did you use? Guess work or Estimated billing? Someone that hasn’t declared his income to the LIRS. Tax amount are not just picked randomly, it’s based on calculations Mr ignorant
