The Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Muhammad Matawalle, has called on India to explore investment opportunities in the country’s defence sector.

In a statement signed by its personal assistant on media Ahmad Dan-Wudil on Wednesday, said "Matawalle extended the invitation during a bilateral meeting with India’s Minister of State for Defence, Mr Raksha Rajya Mantri Sanjay Seth, in New Delhi on Tuesday, 12 August 2025.

Matawalle said Nigeria was eager to deepen collaboration, especially in indigenous defence manufacturing, to reduce dependence on foreign imports.

He invited the Indian delegation to visit Nigerian defence facilities to explore possible partnerships and joint ventures.

The Nigerian delegation, on an official visit to India from 11–14 August, also met with Indian defence industry leaders to discuss technology transfer and industrial cooperation.

Defence ties between the two countries date back to the early 1960s and have been strengthened by shared democratic values and a mutual commitment to peace and security.

"The talks centred on expanding defence cooperation, with a focus on counter-terrorism training, maritime security, hydrography, anti-piracy operations, and research and development.

"Seth highlighted India’s advanced defence manufacturing capacity, including the production of Light Combat Aircraft, Light Combat Helicopters, and Offshore Patrol Vessels.

He assured Nigeria of India’s full support in meeting its defence procurement needs and enhancing operational readiness.

Nigeria government will spend billions buying arms and ammunition other equipment from other countries, meanwhile Innosson motor have good vehicles for military purposes you won’t see them patronize him they preferred inviting foreigners, in this country I have seen where gun factories were destroyed instead of government to take over the factories and make sure those running the factories teaches the Nigeria military engineers how to manufacture these weapons, they won’t do it instead they will kill the ideas, we don’t have leaders with visions of developing the country everybody is out to stack wealth for their own family and generations to come

They will never learn. Investment is brilliant, but the government should focus on building a base that attracts the right kind of investment.

The Tinubu government has failed to investigate the $3 billion that has been wasted on the non-performing refineries. N3.6 Trillion is about to be wasted on rehabilitating the 3rd Mainland Bridge, N710 billion on MMIA rehabilitation, and N15 trillion on the Lagos -

Next time you don’t have to engage me without properly understanding my post, We all see when a certain Cocaine burst worth trillion was burnt by NDLEA we all see where a vessel used in stealing our crude oil was burnt after being apprehended by Tompolo and his boys working as Niger delta water ways security let’s say that’s an attempt to kill investigative process

My point is why would they be destroying things that could serve as national assets? If the military take over the gun manufacturing factory to make it a government owned factory is that a bad thing? Or you forgot that Cocaine can be use in manufacturing pharmaceutical drugs? The US govt don’t seize things and destroy them except it’s toxic or not good for use but right here In Nigeria we don’t even think before destroying things, we do travel abroad to purchase premium motors spirit which is fuel but we refused to empower local refineries and even make our own country refineries to function including Dangote private owned refineries is being deprived of access to crude oil in naira… you are not seeing the bigger picture all you people do is to attack anyone who have an opposing views to be talking out of sentiments and emotions try dey use your sense

If a country want to develop we must have to patronize our local production not by running abroad removing money from your country to finance another country’s GDP
