they want to prosper but don't want development, they forgot that nobody and no government will share free money to them but can only help them to achieve their goals by giving them infrastructures that will enable them do their business. Besides , they have not yet recovered from election loss and they just hate everything because the person calling the shot is not their man.

Whether they like it or not, Nigeria will develop whoever doesn't want Nigeria to develop is free to relocate.
God bless you for this comment.

😎

Africa will never catch up if we keep building projects for years... Why not divide the projects into six sections... Award each part to different company to be completed in Six months... Then they all connect their sections in the final stage...

Heavens will not fall if this project is completed within 6 months....

Dream BIG.....his dreams for Lagos are coming true even Dangote testified to it's reality.
Fashola was also a big dreamer .... plans to make Lagos look like Dubai ... with skyscrapers everywhere and gondolas for mass transit. what happened to the plans?....what happened to the money? I'm sure Lagosians at still repaying the loan but nothing to show. This one he's not saying the conditions for the loan/grant. Is it China will have full rights to all gas reserves?... Oil reserves?

Lagos to Abuja, to Kano, and from Abuja to Port Harcourt

Now they purposely avoid South East again.

Sure and it is really disheartening to see that kind of reasoning from alleged humans.
With the huge number of roads USA has, they are still building more.
Trump's second-term infrastructure vision pledges massive investment in transportation, data centers, and public works at al.

Only God knows why he lumped Yorubas with these kind of people who don't think about the future except now.
People with now now mentality are a very dangerous case.

We need the naira to further come. Down..

Debt management is what is killing the naira...
You don't understand economics. You need naira to come down but you don't want investment to come in... in any case, did the news say it's funded by Nigerian Government? That's how millionaires are being made under your nose but your small mind cannot see beyond now.

For economic lessons, it is foreign investment that will push down the pressure on naira. But govt borrowing will affects govt spending... And the question should be borrowing for what? Infrastructure? Bring it on! You were here when Jonathan and Buhari were borrowing to pay overheads but you didn't complain.

based on financial literacy, how much should the cairo-cape town road cost?

which financially literate person will believe that a 700km road will cost $11-13billion?
Financial literacy would make me know that you can't make a pot of afang soup for 3 people with N650 in Tinubu's Nigeria. That does not mean I can tell you, off the top of my head, what a pot of afang soup will cost. I'd have to enter a keke and take a trip to the nearest market to find that out. Simple illustration. Well, simple for most people, not you.

On your second question, I did not comment on whether the Lagos-Calabar project is overestimated or not. I only commented on Cape Town to Cairo.

Anyway, if you want to go on across social media embarrassing yourself by posting that you can build a road from the Cape to Cairo for $1.65b, it's not hard. Please go ahead.

Do have a great day.

[quote author=lexy2014 post=136447648]indeed. let us see how he is doing it.

Lagos-Calabar Highway Costs 7 times more per km than Pan-African Cairo-Cape town route.

1. Nigeria’s Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, a 700 km highway.

Budget: $11–13 billion

2. Cairo-Cape Town Highway, a 10,228 km Cairo-Cape Town Highway

A simple comparison of the terrain of both project as a lay man without the professional input of an engineer and quantity surveyor will let you know that the cost will be 10 times over, you should know as a lay man that the cost of sand filling alone is enough to make up the difference, how can you compare cost of building a desert road to a road by the rive bank

Mr economics which skl did u go to..?

Do u even know why nations call for foreign investment..? Do u know domestic investment is far far better than foreign investment... Only comparative advantage is the reason nations wants foreign investment...

Have u ever heard of the word capital flight..? If u know what it means then u will know the need for domestic investment over foreign investment....

I can see u enjoy alot of misrule.. ND coruption, u were born into it and hence glorify it..

Tinubu borrowed funds in multi billions to do a wasteful road that only benefits his luxury new town in Eko island... That project is not a revenue based project... U never criticized.. infact u fought for him cuz he is ur tribe...

Now he wants to borrow a whopping 60billion dollars, a sum that all past government of Nigeria put together has never borrowed, and u trust him with such deals.. when it is evident he is a sqanderer..

Now I know ur argument is the PPP sign post... So why didn't tinubu do the PPP on his cherished coastal road...?. he said it's an important road.. meaning it's traffic will b much, so why didn't he plan to do it and get the money paid back to the project undertaker's..

It is a 60billion dollars one he need to tax the people to death... Do u know it will affect cost of transport on that route.. it's will affect everything related to that transportation.. do u imagine when they say PPP the government dnt do counterpart funding..

Again, u say bringing bdown the naira value isn't neccessary, where do u get more than 90% of goods u use in this country... or ur eco teacher didn't tell u there is correlation btw maria exchange value and cost of imported goods..?

Did u not know cost of imported goods is the reason things are now so expensive for the people...?

Ordinary Dangote refinery ur oga cannot support...he still prefers cabals flood the market with excess cheap fake fuel...and u say that one thinks about ur investment....?

U are a truancy student if u say foreign investment is the biggest factor to strengthen the naira value..go back to skl

Mr.. dnt even come to economics, that is where u will meet ur Waterloo..

Bring it on!

wow...intersting. I can see that you are very knowledgeable. it even makes things easier for me.

are you telling me that from cairo to cape town is desert?

can you please tell me the number of countries this 10,000km road will go through?

can you tell me the terrain which the road will pass in each of thise individual countries?

can you please give a breakdown of the cost of building a kilometre of road between cairo to cape town and from lagos to calabar?

I knew you don't know what an analogy is and so won't get it. In fact, I knew the entire post would fly over your head. You can't be helped. Smh.

I'm sure your next question (which I won't reply to) would be what flying over a head has to do with this. Smh.

In your state of sliding (front sliding, back sliding or side sliding), what is the basis of comparison used that you say is not reasonable?

What makes that basis of comparison unreasonable?

Who decides what basis of comparison is reasonable or not?

What is your basis of comparison and what makes it reasonable?

How does your basis of comparison nullify my basis of comparison?
i have no response for you. If you think comparing costs of a project done in 1971 should correct significantly to the cost of a project done in 2025. Then, it only shows your thought process and I can't help you.

since it does not show your thought process, I am surprised that you cannot answer simple questions based on your post below.

lets try again:

yemre:
Actually I was supposed to have let this slide but I won't.

If you are comparing issues, try as much as possible to use reasonable basis to compare.

The construction of Cairo Cape Town started in 1971 . This means that the budget was made before then. Besides, the so-called project is not yet completed till today - 54 years after.

Is that the kind of project you want?

How do you even compare a 1971 project to 2025. Who does that?

This Lagos Calabar coastal highway will be completed and delivered on schedule. And we will use it and even pay toll to the shame of all the people who never saw this economically valuable project as anything good.

Same with this speed rail.

I hope the minister of education reads our social media - because a lack of appreciation of numbers is something I see very often. You can string together numbers that don't add up (e.g., say one LG chairman stole N80 billion), and people would believe it. Because they have no sense of figures and can't tell at a glance what is not possible.

Here, now, we have adults who believe you can build 10,000 km of road across multiple countries for ... wait for it ... $1.65b! And 'na newspaper tok am!'

Someone has to do something about it.
