Imagine saving up for a purpose after being motivated, for a year then fire gut a portion of your apartment which was later quenched by neighbors. But after opening your piggybank, you met many of the notes partly burnt. What would you do next?

But in Ghana, you can get a clean note by just reporting this to the Police then file it and approach any nearest bank.

Money doesn't lost it's value, even if burnt this way, all it takes is to file a report with the Police and get a clearance which you can take to the bank for claim.

In saner countries, you could still take this money to banks and they'll accept it.
Nigeria is the only country where one bank teller wanted to reject "torn" notes from the bulk money that I came to deposit.
The way I changed it for that teller that day, even the manager could not calm me down.
Imagine a bank not knowing that part of their responsibility is to remove damaged notes from circulation.

There are savings box that is almost impossible to be broken in the case of theft and which fire can’t destroy too. Your cash will be save that way. I’m not saying it’s better than saving in banks but banks in this age are corporate thieves and fraudsters.

Haven’t you heard of people that died and there monies in banks gone coz families members not aware. Some will even clear your account without leaving traces. They will tell you it was you who did the transaction.

Should we talk of several charges and deductions that keeps reducing your money?

Saving money in a piggy bank doesn't make someone an illiterate, besides it doesn't stop you from also saving in the bank.

Parents buy it for their children to teach them saving culture early, my nephews and nieces all have theirs. Whenever someone gives them money they rush to their piggy banks to drop all or part of it.

People do it for fun. I operate with two banks but I have a piggy bank at home where my wife and I drop money whenever we like and don't touch it for months....... Opening it gives that boxing day vibe, it's fun.

If anyone thinks keeping money at home is only done by "stark illiterates", then they are no different to that group. Where do you think politicians, drug lords, kidnappers, cyber criminals etc all keep their money? Of course not in the bank. You and I both know that this set of people I mentioned above are way smarter than an average fella wasting their time on a public forum like this.

Always keep your money in the bank and any one you can afford to lose, keep in cash on your person on the go and not at home for an extended period of time. No one would receive those notes including CBN.

check if they numbers are intact then go to your bank , they may change them for you
