It offers loans of up to N10 million, capped at 33.3% of a beneficiary’s gross annual salary.

For a lecturer earning 400,000 monthly

400,000 X 12 = N4,800,000

33.33% of N4,800,000 = N1,599,840.00

A lecturer earning 400k monthly is eligible for N1,599,840 ONLY

Can someone help me verify this calculation?
You're wrong Sir. What you calculated here is what a person can get on a year. Remember the loan is for 5 years repayment so you'll need to multiply that sum by 5.

The western strategy of modern colonization is through DEBT.

It will get to a time u will be denied promotion because u are owing federal government.

You will be asked to repay ur student loan before u are recruited for NYSC or entitled to collect institution results or NYSC certificate.

Government will have full access to your lives. Whatever they give u now, they are collecting it back from you through their inflation
This is all false.

You do not pay back student loan until 2 years after you start work.

So, if you finish NYSC in 2026 and don't find work until 2029, you will start paying back the loan in 2031. How is that a bad deal please?

Don't forget also that in addition to the loan, which the government pay directly to the school as tuition fee, each student also receive N20,000 FREE money (not loan) paid into each student's bank account EACH MONTH, even when the students are on holidays.

This is one of the best policies introduced by any government in the history of Nigeria.

How anyone can oppose it just because of politics is beyond me.

Someone explain it using a salary of 100k
You get 33 percent of 1.2m which is your annual salary at 100k per month.

N396,000

That's, 100k per month salary

N1,200,000 annually
Someone earning 100k is eligibility to 33.33 percent of his salary.

33.33 percent of 100k is 33, 333.33.

Multiple 33, 333 by 12 (months in a year) that is 400k

400k multiple by 5 ( the duration of the loan) that is 2 million.

Someone earning 100k is eligible to 2 million naira loan to pay back in 5 years.

You forgot to multiply the total annual repayment by 5 (which is the loan duration). That should give you about N8,000,000

You do not understand much at all. Its even a shame that I am conversing with you.

The problem with you young folks is that you do not know something but you feel you know something. That's really a terrible problem cos you will not have open mind to learn.

This is absolute BS! Nigeria needs sweeping reforms like making legislative services to be a part-time role, shutting down of the useless legislative houses (preferably the senate) to cut the cost of governance and fortifying the EFCC to punish politicians for not keeping to their campaign promises.

Until then, Tinubu is just a jester and another time waster like the man before him. Nigeria cannot keep taking 2 steps forward and 6 steps backwards: we have been doing that since 1960.

By the time you do the calculation, the loan offers capped at 33.3% of a beneficiary’s gross annual salary. that's the only amount you can be given.

A Professor that earns around 400k can only access around 1.5m as loan, not to talk of other junior workers

how has tinubu used his "renewed hope agenda" to successfully tackle corruption, nepotism, cronyism, hunger, unemployment, hardship, poverty, inflation, wasteful government spending, budget padding, insecurity, bad governance, failing public infrastructure, poor medial services and falling standard of education?

****** N400,000 divide by 3 = 133,333.33
133,333.33 multiple by 12(1 year) = 1,600,000.

1,600,000 x 5years (duration of the loan) = 8,000,000.

Someone earning 400,000 is eligible to 8 million naira.

So it means the person will be earning 266,680.00 every month after deduction of the loan. It has a one year moratorium. This means there is a one year grace period or loan holiday.

The smart ones will take the loan and do business or build house.
The take home is different from gross. The person you initially quoted seems to be using the net pay for the calculation.

so tinubu said paying fuel subsidy is not sustainable and decided to remove it and it immediately led to acute inflation which reduced living standards.

same with the price of dollar.

how is giving out loans and sharing free money for people better than paying for subsidy and keeping the price of dollars low?

where is the money for these loans coming from?

what is the employment rate as at today?

how will this student loans be recovered if jobs are an issue?

Repayment period means a duration in which the loan obtained would be pay back. For instance, if your loan is 1m, you will be giving an opportunity to split the repayment for 5 years. It doesn't mean computation of amount but period you are expected to pay back your obtainable loan.

It was clearly started in the article.

I'm not an APC fan and I don't believe in Tinubu's politics. However, I like bold men and men of vision. Personally, I believe Obi is too desperate and doing too much like Buhari. Emotional people always mess up with power. Crazy and bold ones always achieve more. Many of you think Yar'adua did well but no he was a failure as much as Buhari if you really understand governance. Obasanjo was one of our best, Tinubu cannot be rated yet because he's still not done yet but his vision and determination I believe makes him better than others.

I'll choose a corrupt capitalist like Tinubu over a saint socialist like Peter Obi anytime anyday.

Desperate times call for desperate measure. If you are not desperate in life to cause changes, it means you are comfortable with your present condition. Obi is not desperate to be a President. He's desperate to see Nigeria work in his life time.
