OctavianAC:
Even in this present Nigeria of today in which master's degree holders are jobless, what did you think is in primary six certificate to be celebrate about? When last did you present primary certificate for anything?
If your suggestion is for all to be banned.
So be it.

Abuja schools eh. Please Government should help us.

Good development, these days young siblings can no longer use books after the older ones are through .
In our days, the same textbooks that our first-borns used for their studies were handed down to us in succession, except for the ones that our older siblings were negligent with or happened to lose or damage, in which case our parents had no choice but to purchase replacements. Back then, it was customary to reuse and recycle educational materials within the family to save costs. However, when we observe the current educational environment, it's evident that schools today seem increasingly focused on commercial interests, sometimes prioritizing business aspects over the quality of education itself.

Good move by the government of Imo state, this should be done nationwide. The amount of extortion by private schools is extremely outrageous.

Nigerian government and priority problem! Is this the issue at hand (over there)? If your public schools are okay, why will parents resort to/prefer private academies? Abegi!!

While the rest of the world are ahead, the Nigerian government drew its country centuries behind...
You will heal.

Don't know when the rubbish started self. We grew up without just primary six and SS3 grad

it should be replicated in EDO state, imagine some overzealous parent doing full cow barbecue for KG graduation in the school compound, it sent a wrong message to parent and even the kids, bring about unhealthy competitions from parent with complex issues.

Modified. It has been replicated in Edo state.

Happy with this, especially the text book.
They should stop the schools from selling textbooks.
They should only give list of books with publisher name, let parents get them at bookshops.
only dis one I fully support...

d graduation party is not compulsory for parents to pay or attend in all skools, unless there's one am not aware of.

This is a pro-parent policy.
School heads and milking parents in the name of graduation ceremonies.
Like private schools, like public schools.

These exploitation is also carried out by the same set of people crying "bad governance" as if they are not part of the government.

Great one coming from IMO government because if care is not taking the private school proprietor or proprietress are ready to milk parents dry through unnecessary graduation and yearly mandatory changing of books for pupils in their schools. Financial strain is much on parents.

How I wish our Education Minister should do something about this.
They should revive and upgrade our public schools too.

It should be nationwide ban on graduations of kids except, primary six and SS3.

These are avenues to milk parents.

FG,do the needful.
Everything is not politics.
Graduation should only be secondary school and university...even secondary shouldn't be compulsory

School proprietors are very stubborn. They will find their ways around it. They will make sure the textbook will have filling in the gaps thereby rendering it non reusable.

You are right!
Decades ago, when I learnt of the word graduation. Its is frequently associated with degree programs.Trust Nigerians,it became messed up to the extent that kids are now graduating from one stage to the other because of financial gains.
It's time, graduation retained respect.

You are talking about work books. Work books should not be passed on to someone else except it has not been used for what it is meant for .

Very good move. The rubbish started in Lagos and have somehow spread across the country.

The ban is a commendable bold move. Other states should do likewise.

I think Imo State Government has acted in good faith by the BAN on Nursery and J.S 3 graduation celebration by the private schools. The private school owners are pass their responsibilities to parents.

seriously this has become a serious issue to be attended to private schools and few public schools has turn this party of a thing into something else..
They force parents to start looking for unnecessary funds and Puting both the kids and parents on unessecary pressure...
