Comfort Emmanson, the Ibom Air passenger who went viral after being accused of assaulting a flight purser, has finally spoken out and shared her side of the story.

The dramatic incident happened on an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos, where Emmanson was accused of refusing to switch off her mobile phone during the pre-flight safety instructions. Reports at the time claimed she violently attacked a flight purser, leading to her arrest, arraignment, and a lifetime flight ban by the Airline Operators of Nigeria. The ban was later lifted.

On August 13, after high-level consultations led by Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, the police withdrew all charges against her, and the court officially discharged the case.

Until now, Comfort Emmanson had remained silent. But earlier today, she posted a video that has gone viral on social media, thanking everyone who stood by her and fought for her release. In the video, she gave a detailed account of what really happened on the flight.

According to Emmanson, when she boarded the aircraft, a flight attendant instructed her to switch off her phones. She explained that one of her devices had a faulty power button, so she asked for assistance. The attendant told her to shut it down through the settings but refused to physically help, citing airline policy. Eventually, a male passenger seated beside her assisted in turning it off. The attendant reportedly made a remark, but Emmanson said she ignored it.

After the plane landed, she went to use the restroom. By the time she returned, most passengers had already disembarked. As she attempted to leave, the same flight attendant stopped her, insisting she could not exit. Confused, Emmanson asked for the reason and then turned her phone back on to record the encounter.

She alleged that the attendant suddenly pulled her hair, seized her belongings, and even broke her phone during the struggle. Distressed, she repeatedly demanded to know why she was being treated that way. Security operatives later arrived and, seeing her upset, forcefully escorted her out — a scene that was captured in the viral video circulating online.

In her new video, Emmanson also expressed deep disappointment with Ibom Air’s management, claiming that the airline allowed footage of her uncovered body to surface publicly. She disclosed that the video is now being widely shared on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, causing her embarrassment. According to her, people now mock her online and offline, despite the fact that she has never been a “social media person.”

She further revealed that she works in real estate and admitted that the incident has deeply affected how she feels about herself and her professional image.

Nigeria lost a rare opportunity to uncover fundamental issues in the aviation sector especially in terms of passenger rights, airline responsibilities, etc

I remember it was one signal from a passengers phone upon landing that intercepted control tower communication that made it impossible to connect military chopper, making it to crash with that plane at the airport early January, killing on on board, same as all military men on the chopper. Forget all these emotions, You have to be sued by the airline madam, na peoples lives u were risking. That isn't to mean the airline conduct is good. Its very very bad, a breach on your personal privacy

I just agree that Ibom air was not professional in the manner they handled this matter.
