I really don't know about Nigeria. But in Ghana it is a very serious business. I live in a place called "Borla site" and lots of these are packed and heaped there. it is a very lucrative business if you have the patience. it takes a long time to gather by yourself but if you let others know, they can get you lots of this while you give them money according to the weight of the bottles gathered.

Same thing here in Ghana. The chinese own the recycling companies more. Only few Ghanaians own recycling machines and company

They are waiting to be packed.... You need very many of it to make reasonable money , you will just get to that location one day and see that everything has disappeared

These plastics can be recycled and turned into valuable products. These particular plastics is what I am currently using for a grant awarding project.

Waste is wealth!!!. You yourself can be an instrument of change and contribute to a carbon-free society.

They are collected, washed and sundried, then sorted out based on colors and textures. Coca-Cola pet bottle is not same as Aquafina even though they're transparent.
These are sorted and sent for grinding into Peebles and dust crusts depending on what the intention and demand is.
It is then loaded and scaled to arrive at 25kg per bag and it depends on what manufacturers need, as colors are more expensive than black, and black are less expensive than Dark.
These are used to make
Nylon shopping bags
Pure water bags
PVC pipes
Phone pouch
Storage overhead tanks
Pet bottles
Plastic chairs
Buckets
And even slippers
So many household items.

I know this because I work directly with these manufacturers as a consultant

In Lagos, they're recycled by Alkem Nigeria (a Indian company). We have some local recyclers around Agbara.
