Because their security architecture is quiet different from Nigeria's. In the US, citizens have right to own firearms. If that was Nigeria then, Nigeria population would be under 50m.

They are called by a different name, just semantics. There are domestic terrorists that operate in the US as well as organized criminal gangs(bandits) who are constantly engaged in extortion, kidnapping, human trafficking and the likes.
