Any which way, going to block dangote trucks from moving is taking the laws into your hands. Vdm is over reaching. Do you know the economic damage he is doing by stopping those trucks from moving?
While any unprofessionalism from drivers is unacceptable, one haulage driver explained certain issues online. He says a truck can develop fault at any time, be it brand new or old, expecially with the brake system. Most times once you notice it you park and effect some adjustments. It could be something that will take a few munites or longer. He said in lots of cities in the South it is impossible, he mentioned Ogun, Lagos, Anambra, edo etc, that once a truck stops, boys will rush them to demand for money before it could be worked on, a lot of violence involved, more like daylight robbery. He gave an example of himself, that they sized the tool he wanted to use, he had to jump into his truck to manage it to a safer location. Ie because of the threat of attack, extortion, robbery by any truck that parks in the road, most driver will try to manage the trucks to safer places eg outskirts of the city to effect repairs. Now knowing those trucks use air brakes, without which they are deadly weapons, imagine hauling 50 tons of of load then having to manage your brakes, imagine if there is a slope, will lives not be lost?
Truth of the matter is that we are reaping the effects of shenanigans. No truck driver will stop to repair his truck on any street in eg Lagos, he will manage it to get to Lagos Ibadan Expressway all to avoid area boys. Is it not people lives now being put at risk?

Mr. A is a driver of fidelity bank, Mr. A went home with the bank's car to take lunch, and while eating, Mr. A's brother came out from no where and said " bros abeg make I use the car reach junction", Mr. A obliged... while the brother was driving the car to the junction, he knocked down 2 people.


Do you know that in the above example, the bank is liable ? ....e shock you right ?

If it is one or two isolated accidents, yes the driver alone could be culpable.

But when the accidents become too rampant and frequent and more so when driver have been found not to have driving licenses, it becomes a management failure and lack of oversight by management.

The head of Dangote company is Dangote himself and the buck should rightly stop at his table. He is the only one that can make the rightful decision and supervised oversight over the Directors at the logistic department to ensure that, at the minimum all their drivers are licensed and their vehicles are roadworthy.

You do not have to stop Dangote trucks on the road to get his attention to act on the carnage some of his truck drivers have caused. Dangote is a man with a big heart. He has shown it over the years in Nigeria.

You should know that you are going beyond your bounds by weilding cane and blocking road. Do not endanger your life with those truck motor boys and their drivers.

It is their responsibility to pay out if there are issues so in practice they take steps to protect themselves from avoidance payments. It is business
At the corporate level
Where hundreds or thousands of vehicles are involved
In logistics companies like JB Hunt or large vehicles hire companies like Mandilas SCOAit is a bulk insurance policy

The insurance company in the specific case of Dangote would be liable for third party compensation
They would negotiate a deal to reduce their liability e.g if a driver is using drugs ,alcohol not wearing a seat belt, does not have a driving licence and so on then liability would pass on the policy holder thereby putting onus on the policy holder to do more to ensure their drivers are safe
Some require large corporate policy holders to arrange a specific number of hours of training yearly, eg there is a thing called a defensive driving course, compulsory speed limit. Devices, use of tachograph, random drug tests and so on
In Shell wearing a seat belt is compulsory. Driver cannot drive for too long without resting .
Do we even use tachograph devices in Nigeria?
The summary is when there are accidents insurance companies pay and so they put in place a range of training and safety protocol measures to reduce their risk and policy holders comply because if there is an incident and they are not compliant the policy is voided

Bros, I did not say I am living a better life than you…also, the fact that someone owns and drives a car does not mean they are living a better life than someone else who does not.

Life is not black and white, there are many grey areas in between, my point was simply that, a car owner who also have an insurance would know that the insurance company does not ensures that your car is safe to drive neither do they ensure you are qualify to drive.

Bro, it wasn't scam but a suggestion but many Nigerians looked down on it, like, how would a graduate drive a truck! See, the truth of the mater is that, Dangote is not the direct employer of truck drivers in his cement or sugar company but the agents that handles these things have already turned it into something else. However, Dangote is the brand used and he has to settle all medical bills and need total over hauling in his logistic departments. What I see is good news ahead.. perhaps, by first quarter of 2026 you should be seeing smart drivers behind Dangote's truck Wheels..
