How do you dress for a bomb? Im curious to know. Or you think there are wears that can stop it from killing the person trying to neutralize it? Lol. If yes, no one will fear to move near it. Anyone trying to neutralize a bomb is putting his life on line. This is the truth. They can only prevent themselves should in case it is a biological weapon.

2.2 meter bomb? That's one hell of a large UXO. It is bigger than most of the UXOs currently being found all over Europe. Something that large can level entire city blocks so it means it was a dud dropped from a Nigerian airforce fighter jet.

Taking a look at that bomb again, I can't help but wonder if it wouldn't have been better to have detonated the bomb on site. There was no point risking the life of the police personnel by having him handle the bomb. The area was uninhabited. Placing huge metal blocks around the UXO and detonating it would have been the better option. The police got off lucky.

Till date, there are entire areas in France that can't be developed due to UXOs from WW1. Over 110 years later, those bombs and grenades still pose an active threat. Farmers in France operating in such areas, have to be extremely careful and avoid certain areas. Bombs from WW1 still explode in that country. Germany (WW2) and Vietnam constantly deal with UXOs all the time. Vietnam in particular, had more bombs dropped on that country by the US than all the bombs dropped by all the countries in WW2, combined.

Landmines are what you are talking about, and are different. That's not a landmine in the picture.

Was there a proper safety evaluation: since the environment shows no risk to properties or personnel, they should have a control diffusion from distance instead of jeopardising the life the disposal. He is not kitted. The shield he is wearing is akin to basic workshop face shield for grinding, milling or lathe machines.

Agreed, so why bother with a flak jacket and engineering hardhat. He might as well be in underwear or pyjamas. Optics are pointless in a war.zone and if he is a bonafide bomb rat then he is a high value target for the insurgents and this photo op may be a very bad idea.
