Explained: How To Register, Transfer, Or Replace Your PVC On INEC Portal by Infoguy666(op): 10:57am On Aug 19, 2025
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Portal is Nigeria’s official online platform designed to simplify voter registration and other electoral services.

It offers Nigerians at home and abroad a digital gateway to begin or update their voter registration process before visiting biometric data collection centres.

News360 Nigeria reports that the portal was introduced to make voter registration faster, more transparent, and more accessible to millions of eligible citizens.

Why the INEC Registration Portal Matters

Before the launch of the INEC Registration Portal, voter registration was done only at physical offices and temporary registration points.

This system often led to long queues, delays, and limited access for people in rural areas.

The Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) Portal bridges this gap by combining online pre-registration with physical biometric capture. This hybrid approach reduces waiting time, improves efficiency, and brings electoral services closer to the people.

Services Available on the INEC Portal

Through the INEC Registration Portal, citizens can access the following services:

1. New Voter Pre-Registration

If you’ve never registered for a Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC), you can pre-register online.

Click “Start Registration”
Enter your details accurately
Book an appointment at a biometric capture centre

2. Voter Information Review

Registered voters can review and confirm their details.

Click “Start Revalidation Process”
Provide registration details
Update your photograph if necessary

3. Locate Registration Centres

The portal provides a searchable list of INEC offices and centres.

Click “Find Registration Centres”
Select your state and LGA
View the nearest centres available

4. Transfer of Voter Registration

If you’ve moved to a new area, you can request a transfer.

Click “Start Transfer Request”
Provide old and new polling unit details
Complete the process at an INEC office

5. Information Update

For corrections (e.g., name, date of birth, or address):

Click “Start Update Request”
Enter your details and submit supporting documents

6. Uncollected PVC Check

Many Nigerians have yet to collect their PVCs.

Click “Check Pickup Locations”
Enter your details to see where to collect your card

7. Replacement of Lost or Damaged PVC

If your PVC is missing or damaged:

Click “Submit Request”
Provide your details and reason for replacement
Collect the new card at your assigned INEC office

Step-by-Step Guide to Using the INEC Portal

1. Visit the official portal: https://cvr.inecnigeria.org

2. Select the service you need (registration, update, transfer, etc.)

3. Fill in your details correctly

4. Book an appointment for biometric capture

5. Visit the nearest INEC centre with a valid ID on your appointment date

6. Complete your registration/update process

7. Track your PVC status on the portal

Eligibility Requirements

To use the INEC Voter Registration Portal, you must:

Be a Nigerian citizen
Be at least 18 years old at the time of registration
Possess a valid means of identification (National ID, passport, or driver’s licence)
Not have been previously registered as a voter

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. What is the INEC Portal?
The INEC Portal (https://cvr.inecnigeria.org) is the official online platform for voter pre-registration, updates, transfers, and PVC replacement.

2. Is online registration enough to get a PVC?

No. Online registration is the first step. You must complete biometric data capture at an INEC centre before your PVC can be issued.

3. Can I transfer my voter registration online?

Yes, but you’ll need to visit an INEC office to finalise it after filling out the request online.

4. Can I check where to collect my PVC?

Yes. Use the “Check Pickup Locations” feature on the portal.

5. Who is eligible to register?
Any Nigerian citizen aged 18 years and above who has not previously registered.

Key Takeaway

The INEC Portal has revolutionised voter registration in Nigeria by making it easier, faster, and more accessible.

By combining online pre-registration with physical biometric verification, it ensures a more efficient process while encouraging greater participation in elections.

Every eligible Nigerian is encouraged to take advantage of the Continuous Voter Registration Portal to secure their PVC and contribute to credible elections.

Nigerians have actually lost interest in the electoral process where election results have been written long before physical voting.

I'm from Esan South East local government, Edo State and I can tell you for free that anybody from SE should not bother, because the system is already rigged against you. INEC will never allow you register, transfer or replace your PVC because they already know you're not voting for the uselessness ruling party. grin grin

Hopefully South East people will not transfer all their PVC to Lagos in the hope of manipulating the result there and just write election results in their states as they always do. The scam practised in 2023 will not be allowed to repeat itself.

Tribalists has spoken.

@All

You can initiate transfer or start fresh registration but transfer is best cus you won't need to visit INEC office twice. You'll only need to visit when they announce period for card collection. Don't mind the bigot I quoted

Fyi is best to initiate the process on your phone. Sign in with Google.

https://cvr.inecnigeria.org/Home/start

You'll need to snap two passport with your phone camera

One no smiling passport

Show your teeth in 2nd passport. That's all

Nigerians have actually lost interest in the electoral process where election results have been written long before physical voting.
but the results of the elections in the southeast and Lagos that favored Obi in 2025 were not written before physical voting, when una decide to think normally without sentiments is when you will realize how politically starved you people are.instead of going to the fundamentals, you people want a leverage and waiver when others now take the advantage you people couldn’t see then you start crying foul.

Exactly 💯 my brother.

People no longer interested in voting because the results have been written long before physical voting.

they want us to visit the INEC office so that they will make people struggle to form a long que under the sun, when people gets frustrated, they will start collecting money to fasten the process.

I don't know why they can't mail it, they want us to be wasting time in Inec office at local government and moreover humans don't stay in one location. Tomorrow now Yoots would be blaming old men, shey the Minister of Communication is a young man and one that I know, shouldn't he have found a way to give us a cardless system for some of us who can't continue waiting for people to be searching trays of cards and the usual come back as if time and tee fare are free and considering the remote nature of some places in Nigeria. Your biometric should be enough to allow you vote if you are genuinely registered.
