This is just us bluffing. We hardly have the leverage we need to make some hard demands. We need them more than they need us.

Diplomacy should be devoid of strategies taking roots from an emotional standpoint or empty bluster. It should be strictly based on logic and common sense.
What is this?

10 years after we listened to ebilokan to make his fellow southerner Jonathan a one term president and end 16 years of PDP deregulation and privatisation capitalist prosperity?

We have made so much progress in change to look at America in the eyes.

Emergingnation:
Flashback: How Bola Tinubu spoke highly of Buhari in 2015, named PDP ‘Poverty Development Party

National leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu had during the presidential campaign in 2015, referred to President Muhammadu Buhari as the only solution for the security and economic challenges facing Nigeria.

During a mega presidential rally, the former governor of Lagos State recalled how some powerful nations in the world returned to army generals when they were challenged, saying “Major General Buhari would revive Nigeria’s economy”.

He named the current opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP as the “Poverty Development Party saying they had nothing to offer.

His words at the time were; “Every nation has a period of their own challenges, when America was challenged, they turned to one great man, their ex-military general, General Eisenhower. When the French were challenged, they turned to their general, Charles de Gaulle.

“When Britain was challenged, they turned to their general. Today, Nigeria is economically and physically challenged so we turn to General Muhammadu Buhari. He is the right man for the job. If you talk about military experience, he has it abundantly, he has courage, simplicity, he has it abundantly.

“If you talk about great determination, a combination of vision and ability to perform, honesty and integrity, he has it abundantly.

“I laugh when the incapable government, ‘Poverty Development Party’ PDP were talking. They have nothing again to say, they now want to question the qualifications of General Buhari and look for his certificate”.

Following the manifestos in 2015 which projected the APC presidential candidate as a ‘saviour’, Buhari defeated the then incumbent president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan with Nigerians expecting a total change in security and economy.

Not so! If you know how much expatriates are packing out from Nigeria you would think twice!
Pure nonsense. If Nigerians in US are stopped from sending money home it'll hurt our economy.
US will not notice at all if their expatriates in Nigeria stopped sending money home!

A simple question , where's the forex "pouring" into Nigeria coming from ? Also , Americans coming to Nigeria before , what were/are they ding in Nigeria ?
Whatever Americans are doing here, we KNOW they'll spend money and go home, NOT hang around and try to get a job cleaning nyash!
Nigerians go there and MAKE money NOT spend money from Nigeris, and most times send home

Exactly what the Nations being bullied by Donald Trump's administration have been doing. They reciprocate in ways that shows courage and strength. Canada would have become an extension of America, another American state if not for the reciprocate actions taken by the Canadian government.

Does Nigeria need America? Nigeria can do without them. Infact, I urge people to check and write out the list of made in America products in your possession.

Tit-for-Tat no backing down.
its true that you always chat offpoint.

it is visa issue not importattion of goods.

Yahoo boy money doesn't involve Americans coming to Nigeria .

Personally , I don't beg people to be my friend but instead focus on self development , it's like trying to impress a girl , a girl who actually knows you're trying to impress her but the truth is that you don't have the ability , she will abandon the guy , but if you truly have the worth , it's the girl hat will be chasing him .

We should focus on self development and treat "everyone" the same way they treat s .
This is a matter of MONEY not girl. You treat a customer who spends money with you well even if he is an idi*t

Like i said comment on things within your pay grade. China did not retaliate at that point because it was comical and a joke.... just like my engaging you any further is a joke! At 125% all trade between USA and China was effectively halted, raising it any higher made no difference! China simply ignored trump's childish tantics!

We are not talking about africa magic or BB naija here! stick to your areas of competence like what happened in the Big brother house

That you have to consult Ai shows you dont even know where to go for info!
Talking more nonsense. Why not go and find out the final tarrifs US settled on with China and other countries. See if ANY country raised tarrifs on US as much as US raised on them.
It is NOT Inferiority complex. It is called having money sense

Pick your fights! It is not every fight you get into.
This stupid government should be making it easy for Americans to come here and spend their money.
Unlike Nigerians going to US, they don't come to make Naira. They come here to spend money!
God bless you sir!

That's why countries spend millions advertising for tourists, ba? Because they're Father-Christmas!
All countries adverting for tourism is because they have something in value to offer to tourists.

If your country have zero values in the eyes of foreigners, if you like advertise till thy kingdom come, no one will look your side.

If the Government likes, they can go and beg foreign investors all day long, if those investors do not see an ROI in investing in our country, they will not come.

Yes, we have to advertise to show them the value we have, we are not advertising so that they come and spend money in our economy in exchange for nothing.

My points is, foreigners coming into our countries are not coming to do us favor or charity, they are coming because they saw a value and they are exchanging their dollars for that value.

Let the Nigerian Government first take the stats of how many Nigerians are in the US and vice versa, then they will be in a better position to tender their demands grin

simple analogy about how you don't beg people to come to your country but attract them based on what you can offer , like people moving to Lagos despite a lot of tribalism or people going to europe or Us despite a lot of racism because of what they will gain there but going by your logic , it's wrong to assume USA is the only customer , check the trade between both countries you will see that it's almost the same import export but not that Nigeria is a parasitic country that feeds on the goodwill of US.

Thank you sir! It is NOT everything you reciprocate, just as you don't see most countries reciprocating tarrifs.
We should be finding ways to encourage them to come here - because there is only net monetary gain for us. We KNOW they will spend money and go home NOT hang around to look for job!
Our people go over there and consume their social services and make dollars and send home!
It is NOT everything you reciprocate!

it's funny cos you think Nigerian going to US don't spend money there but only to make money, that's a very ridiculous take , just last month , Davido was in US speanding a lot of money with his family , that's a popular case , a lot of politicians go there to spend money , a lot of nigeria go to US for tourism and come back to Nigeria same applies to a lot of Midle Class people , and I've said it before, cleaning yansh is providing service for US that without it a lot of their system will collapse , these people cleaning yansh there are also spending money in US .

Tinubu IS fixing Nigeria really well.
Very soon, Nigerians would not need to Japa to the USA or Europe in search of greener pastures.
Even Tinubu IS making ways to return thousands of Nigerians stranded in the Diaspora

This is some stupid argument. How many David's are there? Any regular Nigeria going to US will consume more social services than any any money they'll spend. When they come here they consume zero, they only spend their own money!

Another fallacious take ,how do you measure the social services they will consume compared to what theyre giving US in return ?

As I've said that's just a popular and recent take , according to data , only 6000 plus americans came to Nigeria last year while in a year 2017 , over 100k Nigerians were issued tourism and education visa , now imagine the amount of money US government would have made on all the visas including rejected but no refunds visa which will be going to miilions of dollars ? now the flight are not handled by Nigeria , the food they will consume in US,the housing etc are all going to US not to mention the amount spent on Education like UK schools that are facing problems because their visa policy now disenfranchised students .. I know middle class people that go to US just for vacations and people that have several homes in US , now tell me , how many americans have house in Nigeria ?

You're thinking Nigeria is worthless because you don't know the value of Nigerians .

The Nigerian Government has no choice but to reciprocate, as any serious country would. It is a matter of international law and convention. Reciprocity is one of the hallmarks of diplomatic relations. It would be a gross betrayal of the Nigerian people for the FG to do nothing.

This is so ridiculously myopic. So let's tell each country to stop sending remittances home and stop going to the other country, which country do you think will be most affected by far? This is about MONEY! See it below

That's the blindspot several Nigerians including other countries don't see .

Yesterday , I came across a X post bragging about how US invented telephone and therefore fvck other countries that were complaining why US has +1 number . People began to argue under the post about how Bell that invented it wasn't an American but scottish with Canadian citizenship ,while the Pro America claim the US gave him the platform to be successful.

There are several people like that in US that patented their products in US instead of their home country , I can list tens of them like Nikola tesla, Einstein etc off hand not to even mention some US ops like Paper Clip where they kidnap talented people all over the world to come and develop US .

This remittace might be big in the eye but if all these talents are all in Nigeria , religiously developing Nigeria the same way they're developing other countries like US , that amount will be nothing compared to what we will locally make with much pride .

Now that's that ,do you know how much US companies are making yearly in Nigeria ? According to data, they're making over 1 Trillion naira yearly . If you argue that they're providing jobs , Nigerians are also providing jobs and other services in US , also some US companies like Shel causing a lot of environmental degradation in nigeria far above whatever Nigerians are contributing to the degradation of US environments .

Did you read your first sentence? Haven't you seen guys here supporting Hamas, Taliban, Hezbollah and Iran? Have you not seen videos on tiktok of northern terrorists displaying weapons and hostages? You must have been living in another world.

Through your social media account, they will be able to track your posts, the posts you view and like most, your political views, your religious inclination, your followers, those you follow and your general social media behavior. You think they are dummies? They know exactly what they are looking for.

Those who murdered Deborah in Sokoto, where did they post their beastly acts? And what has your country done about them? The US is not as careless as your country. Did Saudi Arabia not deport Gumi back, and he moves around freely in Nigeria? Comot here jor! angry
You think because Nigerians like a post really means they're in support of it in real life.
Myself for instance, I do like any post against Peter Obi or Igbo here on Nairaland and this doesn't even make me hate Peter Obi or the Igbos in real life. You can't judge people by what they post online because people dey catch cruise and most of the people causing this havoc don't even post it on the internet.
Internet na for cruise...
Reality dey different..
America no get sense...
Na una wey dey worship dem I blame sha.
