Senseless talk. The culprit drivers has been arrested and released before in the name of Dangote. That is why policemen don't bother themselves because they have families and they don't want to lose their job.

Are the drivers professional drivers? they might have licenses but they drive recklessly. One celebrity was lamenting some days ago about dangote truck crushing her sister. If it were just some truck drivers, police will handle the matter. But when it comes to Dangote trucks they don't bother to investigate.

Of course, I'm not saying Dangote should be arrested or can be arrested over such matter, but he's companies make provision for third parties insurance as far as his vehicles are concerned. So when there are accidents as a result of their drivers' negligence, then the police should do their job and company should do the needful.

I am not in support of reckless driving. My responses was to the comment about jailing Dangote for 50 years because of accident by his truck drivers. That was my argument.

An employer is the proper party to go after for any liability incurred by an employee in the cause of employment. Therefore, it is proper to go after Dangote, for any civil wrong committed by his employees.

You definitely dont know anything about vicarious liability. Sincerely you don't. If you do, you will know that the essence of such liability is to shoulder CERTAIN responsibilities as an employer which is very well defined and doesn't amount to arrest but compensation paid to the affected victims in a case such as this one.

I am well aware that criminal responsibility is personal, and nobody can be arrested for a crime committed by another. But the case at hand involves the commission of both a crime and a TORT. The driver of Dangote committed the TORT of negligence while acting in his capacity as Dangote's EMPLOYEE.
Stick to this very scenario in question, as it stands, nobody has arrested or will ever arrest Dangote over this incident (your discussion about Dangote's arrest is based on assumption, not fact), the guilty driver was arrested and detained for the crime he personally committed, but we all know that Dangote will be the one to bear the civil liability which the TORT of negligence attracts, if ever the family of the victim decides to sue for damages!!
