Tragedy has hit the Nollywood industry as popular actress Bose Alao has lost her husband, Razak Omotoyossi, a former Benin Republic international striker.

According to reports, Omotoyossi died on August 19, 2025, although the cause of his death has not yet been made public. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

Bose Alao and Razak Omotoyossi got married in 2007, and their union was blessed with four children. However, their marriage experienced challenges over the years, going through periods of separation and reconciliation.

In 2018, the actress made headlines after accusing Omotoyossi of domestic abuse. She later clarified that their situation was a marital issue that needed counseling rather than public criticism.

Despite personal struggles, Razak Omotoyossi built a notable football career. He represented the Benin Republic national team and played for several clubs across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, earning respect as a talented striker.

The news of his passing has thrown fans, colleagues, and the football community into mourning as tributes continue to pour in for the late footballer.

He's iriginally a Nigerian, his crop of players (about a handful of them) decided not to wait till they're given a chance to start/debut for the Super Eagles because the 2006 world Cup was at stake and the competition for the Nigerian shirt was so so high. And these guys were playing in big NPFL clubs back then like Eyimba, Enugu Rangers, Kano Pillars etc.

So they all, having changed their nationality, left the camp for the Republic of Benin where they've been assured of those shirt since they are good professional footballers in their own right. And many of these Nigerian footballers (having changed their nationality) represented Benin republic at the World Cup that year.

I was pained watching him play for Benin Republic that year. He was so good that I wished he played for Nigeria. RIP Omotoyosi.
