Nigerian-Born Home Birth Influencer, Oyebola Coxon Charged with Manslaughter After Baby’s Death in Prolonged Labour.

An Australian-based midwife and social media influencer, Oyebola Coxon, 36, has been charged with manslaughter following the death of a baby boy linked to a home birth she supervised.

Coxon, who promoted herself online as a natural birth advocate with over 40,000 followers, allegedly left a woman in labo¥r for two days without calling for medical help, despite signs of complications and repeated requests for hospital transfer.

The mother was eventually taken to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle, where she underwent an emergency caesarean section on October 2, 2024. However, the baby, delivered alive, d+ed eight days later.

Coxon, founder of the controversial platform Mamma Informata, had built a following by dismissing medical practices such as ultrasounds and blood tests, claiming conditions like gestational diabetes were “non-existent.” She also encouraged high-risk home births, including breech and twin deliveries, while urging women to resist doctors’ advice.

Her arrest has sparked widespread debate in both Australia and Italy about the dangers of unregulated online health advice.

Coxon appeared in court last Thursday, where she was granted conditional bail. Under her bail terms, she is barred from practising or teaching anything related to pregnancy or childbirth, must surrender both her Australian and Italian passports, and report daily to Nelson Bay Police Station.

Her trial is scheduled to begin at Newcastle Crown Court on October 15, 2025.

While there are truly quacks out there you should get your facts right about Dr. Sebi! There is documented evidence that he cured several people suffering different ailments and when the US government tried to prosecute him, they all came forward to defend him and confirm what he had done. The judge had no option but to release him. The manner of his death was also very suspicious. You shouldn't trust the established systems so much. They don't want cures for people since there is no money to be made from it and anyone with anything that looks like a cure is automatically discredited.
