Good day, fellas. Guys, pls, leave teaching jobs for ladies or married women if you can especially, in private schools. If you want to be a man, do so except you are a government school teacher. The pay won't take you anywhere. Surviving with teaching job now is now very, very hard especially in this current regime. I'm sorry if this thread hurt your feelings but it is the gospel truth. You're right, I recently tendered my resignation to my school management. Can't imagine earning 30k per month and only collecting 20k as 10k goes for contribution.

The reason many are still there, is because they don't have options.

If someone is ready to support some male teachers, many would have dropped teaching to learn one skill or the other.

Guys, and galls, please train to teach before taking a teaching job. With qualifications you can teach anywhere in the world, and some countries pay qualified teachers tons.

I'm just happy I got a job after quitting. The pressure at home would have been unimaginable.

The worse part be say Parents too de see teachers as charity workers. Even when school fees increment is raised up in the PTA meeting to help fix up the small pay they give to teachers, parents will say things like the teachers can survive.

Inside 30k the school owner go still get mind deduct. Take home for some is actually zero ,after they minus transport,and snacks money at the end of the month.. How that kind teacher wan teach pikin well?

Lunch time,he will no be seeing kids with chicken laps and Turkey grin

I'm not a teacher but I'll tell you that you are shallow minded because you don't really know the opportunities teachings expose one to in today's era of you're sharp of which you're not.

For instance, I know a course mate back in school who's a private school teacher and he's currently earning hundreds of dollars monthly from his tutorial videos on YouTube.

What gave him the motivation, resources and even audience to start and grow the YouTube channel? His school and students...

Don't just look at the classroom and salary, look beyond.

The problem is just that, most of the school owners are evil and GREEDY.

My child's school fees is About 250k a term in basic one, his school teacher is only earning 85k

In his class, they're about 12 other kids, imagine the improper fraction!

NA GREED BE OUR MAJOR PROBLEM FOR THIS COUNTRY.

GOVERNMENT IS SUPPOSED TO BE SANCTIONING ANY SCHOOL OWNER NOT PAYING THE MINIMUM WAGE.

I remember earning just ₦19,000 as a physics teacher in Erunmu, Ibadan, back in 2013. I eventually resigned, leaving with less than ₦20,000 in my account, to start afresh in Lagos. At the time, I had no idea what God’s plan truly was. Today, I can boldly say I’m doing more than fine. All glory to God.

Do not generalize!! There are schools are out there paying very well and taking very good care of their staff!! Better than most corporate organizations.

So if all the men leave their private school teaching jobs, will you be the one to absolve all of them in to your establishment (assuming you have one)!!

I'm a private school teacher,and I know how much my take home pay is at the end of the month, I live base on my income, and not doing badly at all. Still get to flex, give out cash and all that.

I agree, we have a lot of mushroom schools with no standard, operating as they deem fit. I assume they are the ones you are referring to.

One thing that should also be understood is knowing the business side of teaching in a private school, and taking advantage of such.

Some of my colleagues makes as much as 500k in a month! How many establishment( government and private) pays that amount in a month??

Allow people to do what they can find in the interim, you will still be the same person to laugh at those men, if they should come begging for handouts. Is it not better to have something doing, while you look out for better options, than to be idle all day!!?

And finally, how will you help them if they leave?? Abi na advice full your mouth??

Just cos some private schools don't pay well, doesn't give u the effontery to go sexist and misogynistic to prove a baseless point, are u trying to say only females are worthy to be paid poorly? Instead of u to direct ur grievances to the government by suggesting that there should be a nationwide regulation of teachers salary, u had to come spew total ignorance and gender bias here, caution urself and try to be wise next time

This is the reality most Nigerian found themselves. It's not funny.

I had my own experience. The pay was something else. Burrow me another word for extreme poor. I was taking js1-3 mathematics, ss 1-3 mathematics, physics,.

The school management will organise after school lesson to ensure you don't have time to go and hunt for job (not now mobile internet has made everything easy. Then you have to use cyber cafe, Tuesday and Thursday go to news paper vendor)

You come late to school, deduction, not wearing the expected colour of clothing deduction, lesson plan and note not up to date deduction. It was crazy.

Most of these proprietors and proprietress are wicked. During holidays some will not pay for that month or pay half

The salary of last month will always come second week of new month to ensure if you resign no pay for u.

500k? Name one make I see. Highest 300k, e no fit pass that one. Wetin dey help private school teachers na lesson. Teachers can make 300k plus from lessons

my friend offered me teaching job in a private school, the salary is 40k. I have been contemplating to accept since last 3days, but seeing this your thread, I have decided I will not do it.
