Last week, the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) hinted at plans to review the salaries of political office holders in Nigeria, describing their current earnings as inadequate, unrealistic, and outdated in the face of rising responsibilities and economic challenges.

RMAFC Chairman, Mohammed Shehu stated: “You are paying the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria ₦1.5m a month since 2008, with a population of over 200 million people. Everybody believes that it is a joke."
He added that this increment will be exclusive to the President, Vice President, Governors and their Deputies, Ministers as well as lawmakers.

However, Daniel Ojukwu, who works with the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) has faulted these claims. In a response to an X user; @MasterBolaji, Ojukwu said the President earned more than ₦1m salary per month.

The RMAFC has intentionally refused to publish the salaries of these officials since 2007, but last year, The SGF’s office paid Tinubu’s July 2024 salary as N13,053,466, making this claim false.

The @OfficialOSGF paid @ProfOsinbajo N910 million in final allowances two months before he left office. So, Tinubu’s ₦13m monthly salary has nothing to do with allowances. It’s a monthly rate. The allowances figures are always way higher.

They should increase the wages of civil servants and pay them their gratuity immediately after retirement. Many retirees are languishing, battling poverty and sickness. Some are even dead.

The money looted by this fraudsters daily is more than what is due to them monthly.

.abi . that is what Tinubu and Tinubu wife told Nigerians that they are not in government because of money or to acquire money and wealth that they are already rich and comfortable..
