This is now the order of the day

Parents are sleeping a lot on their children

A lot is going on in the recent time

Home training has gone to the dogs and also the moral, culture , norms, tradition

I must confess
And some idiots above are saying it's normal . Abstinence should be the first preaching then next is birth control

It's always best to take your child to the clinic to have her placed on birth control as soon as she starts hanging around boys to avoid a situation whereby she ends up as a teen mom.

prevention is better than cure... Traditional parenting no longer works on these teenagers.
What about contracting HIV/AIDS, since most of these teenagers don't use condoms

Are you a doctor, how do you know the prolonged side effects?

This is the end of the world that the bible speaks about.
Because according to the comments on this thread, some parents, surprisingly 'mothers' have accepted fornication, abortion, waywardness, etc as a normal and trending thing for their baby girls.
Some mothers are now seeing parental failure as a bragging necklace.
I think if rapture happens now, it is not too early.
So rapture will happen because of women?
The male that fornicate up and down are saints?

So? What is wrong in that? Such parents have seen that their environment is a high risk area for pregnancy through early nacking and have decided to take precautions, there is nothing wrong with that, I'd rather say they are being proactive.
When you see the trends among young girls in your adugbo to nack and get pregnant, your only solution is to lock the girl indoors, follow her to school, wait till she closes, if you cannot do that and you do not want her to make the mistake of getting pregnant and you having to make a choice of termination, or having her life disrupted by teen pregnancy is contraceptives not the better option? Those days daily pills was made available to young ladies without discrimination.
See, back when I had an office overlooking a junction where you had all those evening street traders with their female kids assisting them, the trend was that at a certain age, all the girls of that age range will get pregnant. Maybe one will test gbola, tell the others how sweet, then influence them to try, that is how pregnancy enters, their schooling is disrupted, most don't get married as it is Okada riders, agberos that impregnate them, the best amongst them is maybe a Korope driver. Next thing the next set of younger ones follow suit with pregnancy burdening their poor market women mothers to care for them and the kids, the circle of poverty continues. They graduate from that to olosho.

Both genders should be taught abstinence and safe sex.

Until we all understand that sex is a normal thing but like any other thing is a huge responsibility, then we will have proper upbringing.

To be honest we are not ready for this discussion.

First to avoid all these alien practice. I call it alien because I am more of a conservative person. I don't follow trend. You must be an intentional parent. If you have a girl child, you must a take a double dose. You've to be intentional of the environment you train your children, you've to be intentional about their friends and you must make out time to creat a strong bond with your daughters.

Now, remember that an apple doesn't fall far from the tree. If you know during your own time you were randy and have high libido. Their is every tendency one of your girls will inherit it.... In other to prevent it.... It's either you do the 'organic' way our ancestor used which the western world have demonized in other to sell their drugs to us that are killing our young girls today.

I know the will come after my post. But truth be told...it's better to practice FGM, to your girl child than this so called implants. It's safer, if they allow trained personal to do it.... But know, the have an agender ... They have criminalized it, and make it look like it's the leading cause of infertility in women, meanwhile it's the other way round.

As for me, it's all shades of wrong to allow a teen abuse her body with all this foreign body's in the name of implants. It's even better she gets pregnant...that might also be a turning point in her life, and most times, it might turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

Early use of contraceptives is the leading cause of hormonal imbalance which might eventually lead fertility complications. A word is of enough...if you like follow the woke people ..na premium tears

You are not out there regulating the men who go around having sex with the females, but you want to regulate those whose desire is to ensure the females are at least be protected from unwanted pregnancy and STDS if and when engage in sex with the men? huh

Una own dey always dey upside down, na him be una problem. Your traditions and religions have been hammering on abstinence since as far back as the 80s/90s, yet in all that time, the rate of teenage pregnancies has consistently risen over that period — never abating. Suddenly, after folks have finally realized the bullsheet of such endeavors, and decided to opt for protection as a more secure method of control, you come out of the woodworks to argue wetin? Nonsense and eegridient! 🥱🥱🥱

2. An individual is less damaged— psychologically & emotionally— by such sexcapades if he/she does not end up with an STD or an unwanted pregnancy, right? So, again, explain to me why you are against ensuring our kids are protected as much from such harm that they can bring on themselves? undecided

By the way, I hope you do not believe that it is only female kids that need such protection, since you seem stuck on preventing girls from being protected. Protection is also given to boys. Now go argue that one. undecided

Yes you're 100% correct. I have heard a mother say it to my face that once her twins daughter gets into the university that they're free to have boyfriends and mingle as they wish.

I was truly shocked that day.
When should they get boyfriends? When should they begin to form interactions with the opposite sex? It is this don't this, don't that" that has made young people not to how to navigate the dating scene or remain single for a very long time because the time and place they should have learnt such was demonised.

If she remains single into her 30s, she gets mocked. She begins to date early, wahala.

Millennials are raising morally decayed children.
What is the hope that the GenZs wouldn't raise worst children?

The Millennials are tying to raise their children in the opposite ways their parents raised them and this is already breeding disaster.
So how come the country is not better for it if the elderly ones raised their children properly?

The truth is: Nigerians don't have morals; they have hypocrisies. People who lie blatantly cannot be said to be morally upright.

The implant messes up with their hormones and prevent them from ovulating (release egg) pregnancy only occurs if the female egg meets with the male sperm, so if the female doesn’t release her egg, the sperm will just be moving aimlessly in her body and cause no harm/pregnancy
Don't you think there may be some side effects to this somewhere down the line? The body of those girls might get used to not ovulating and eventually stop ovulating all together! Hence, they may end up not being able to conceive when they eventually get married.

Sure, abstinence should be preached, but biology, aka hormones, are more powerful. Thus, safe sex and prevention of teenage pregnancy should be espoused.

I don talk am before, God for make sexual hormones get activated in one's mid-20s or 30s because it is futile trying to fight biology o

MY DEAR I WAS SHOCKED WHEN A YOUNG GIRL OF ABOUT 22 YEARS WAS COMPLAINING BEFORE HER AUNT WHO SHOULD BE AROUND 27 YEARS AND A SINGLE MOTHER THAT OF HOW HER OWN MOTHER WAS ALWAYS CALLING HER BOYFRIEND TO TASK HIM FOR MONEY , THAT SHE WAS TIRED OF IT AND HER BOYFRIEND TOO HAS BECOME TIRED. TOO MY GREATEST DISBELIEF HER AUNT SCOLDED HER FOR EVEN MENTIONING SUCH A THING AND THEN ASKED HER HOW MUCH IS THE MONEY THAT HER BOYFRIEND HAS EVEN GIVEN TO HER MOTHER, SHE ASKED IF THE BOYFRIEND HAD EVER GIVEN THE MOTHER 1 MILLION NAIRA BEFORE. I WAS SHOCKED TO THE BONES.

Ibkay32:
We were brought up in different ways, so don’t be surprised if those girls’ parents are actually the ones behind the implants of these contraceptive devices. In this country, there are many parents like that. If you walk through towns and streets, you’ll see parents who take their children to herbalists for “yahoo plus,” just to make quick money. You’ll also find parents openly supporting their daughters to go into hookups, encouraging them instead of guiding them.

It’s sad because it shows how broken some values have become. Instead of teaching discipline, hard work, and dignity, many parents now push their children toward shortcuts and dangerous lifestyles. This is why society is getting worse because the very foundation, the home, is already compromised.

You people should just stop talking about your "fake morality"! It's obvious that those girls are sexually active,. Contraceptive is the best for them because of unwanted pregnancy, it will also allow them to finish schooling!

Let no one pretend like contraceptives implanted is not necessary for a helpless underage girl.
Most of these mothers suffered from these underage pregnancies.
The government does not prosecute underage sex, underage alcoholism, police is encouraging fraud.

The government have failed the people. Let no one pretend.
Right now, Nigeria is not working.
Everyone wise person is up to himself now.

Contraceptive use is something both the global community and federal governments have been actively promoting. It is seen as a key strategy for controlling birth rates, combating poverty, and addressing insecurity. Once a girl is above the age of 16, she no longer requires parental consent to access contraception.

The Society for Family Health runs a program called A360, which provides free contraceptives to adolescent girls and young mothers between the ages of 15 and 19. Let’s be honest with ourselves—unlike boys, many girls become sexually active at an earlier age. We can talk about morality all we want, but this is the reality.

Through various programs, we have interviewed both girls and boys across Nigeria, and the findings have been quite revealing. Since some girls are unable to abstain, our best course of action is to encourage them to use contraception to prevent unwanted pregnancies, while also educating them on sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and how to protect themselves.

The world has changed—whether we accept it or not—and the truth is, we are no longer living in an ideal or "sane" world.
