₦ 142 Billion for Bus Terminals: Another Evidence of misplaced Priority

The difference between the success and failure of the development in any nation is how you prioritise your scarce resources.

The recent announcement that a sum of ₦142 billion has been approved by the Federal Government for the construction of one bus terminal in each of our six geopolitical zones further affirms the lack of competence, lack of focus and poor leadership.

In the 2024 budget, which is the operational budget today, the entire budget of all the teaching hospitals across all the federal universities in the country, as well as the federal psychiatric centres, is under ₦100 billion, yet the government has approved ₦142 billion for bus terminals .

This is disturbing, considering that Health is one of the most critical areas of development, which is deteriorating and remains grossly underfunded. WHO recently reported that over 20 million Nigerians are living with mental health issues.

This is not only a misplaced priority but a tragic irony of our country.

This is not governance.

A New Nigeria is POssible.

Peter Obi!
If not for the fact that we've lost our conscience in Nigeria, why would you spend billions to build a practically useless bus stop, when millions are in poverty?

Your president is gallivanting all over the globe, yet has the temerity and audacity to tell Nigerians in diaspora to "go back home". What nonsense.
Re: ₦142 Billion For Bus Terminals: Another Evidence Of Misplaced Priority - Obi by flexyrule(m): 3:05pm On Aug 22, 2025
Depart from an AC-fitted bus station to ply a 600 pothole-per-km highway that hasn't been maintained since 2010.

Not mentioning the fact that you'd had to to recite Hail Mary every 5 minutes against bandits, kidnappers, and herdsmen.

Misplaced priorities!

New Nigeria is POssible with Peter Obi.

Let's put pictures politics aside. This man could salvage Nigerian nation if given the chance.

He got it all. Our healthcare centers are suffering. They Just need less than N100Billion to roar back to life. But not available.

Yet,N140Billion could be spent on..
!

Sad!

Cho cho cho all over the place just for cheap attention.......

Coming from someone who failed as a Governor, a sore loser who couldn't fix the major road in his state's capital for 8 years.
The same road that he rode on for 8 years. It's easy to do cho cho cho, but show us what you did in 8 years as Governor.

If not for tribalism and religious bigotry, someone like Obi should have been laughed off the political stage.

abc115:
Social Media used to be Peter Obi’s greatest strength. It has become his major weakness.

Amidst many reasons, his oversupply has been a major factor. Even his Obidient members don’t amplify him like they once used to. This isn’t only down to the decline in their number. There is only so much negativity the human brain can entertain per day.

He has built a dark brand associated with death, disaster and doom. Add that to the fact he still has no unique idea of his other than what he has been told to repeat.

The Obidient movement, due to the absence of a coherent vision, are now lost into the world of battling against everyone, their current favourite opponents being fellow ADC members. When they aren’t fighting one another.

Being an antagonistic and irascible group without adjoining positive elements has meant that even their best of supporters know that the game is now up. It is a group in terminal decline. Not to add, a homeless one.

They have no real home in the Labour Party and none in the ADC. In essence, they have become a Vagabond Group. At least at this time. They may be homeless, headless and heading in the direction of hopeless. But they can always regroup, provided they find that leadership they have been lacking for a while.

It won’t come from the most obvious source. Because the most obvious choice isn’t known to take the bull by the horn. Trickier when you realise this bull has no head. The chaos is by design. I must admit, they are fun to watch.

Think of them like Leeds United from that 2022/23 Premier League season. They were deemed to be entertaining and they indeed were. But they went down though. They went down.
