No one is talking about inflation here which is the real problem. That crate of eggs in the US which costs N25,500 equivalent will cost about N86,000 in 20 years going by an inflation rate of 5 percent on average.

In Nigeria at the going inflation rate of 20 percent that crate which costs N6,000 today will cost N96,000 in 20 years time if inflation remains as hot as it is.

To maintain the present standard of living in affording those eggs the minimum wage will need to be somewhere about N1.1 million naira by then.

Now sit back and imagine in the context of Nigeria today which of these 3 scenarios is possible and which is not.

People should realise that inflation is the real silent killer because earnings in employment, business, enterprise, etc are not infinitely elastic and can never match this crazy rateof inflation. The only thing that can come close is productivity and even then who can sustainably add 20 percent more hours to his work schedule year on year for example

Government MUST being down inflation if it hopes to lay a glove on rising poverty and the resultant escalating crime rate.

Ok, today I was out to do an oil change and decided to branch by my favorite Afghani store where I usually buy provisions when in the vicinity. Now, I came across an organic crate of egg for $16.99, 30 medium sized eggs in a crate.
Now, I remembered I spoke with a friend in Lagos last week who priced a similar crate of egg at 6000Naira, Yes ! you heard me right! 6000Naira! Folks in Nigeria do not know how good they have it Living in Nigeria so next time you complain about Nigeria, remember a fresh organic crate of egg goes for N6000 and things are way cheaper in Nigeria compared to the western countries.

So, there is something that should make one happy living in Nigeria
I am waiting on pins and needles for the minimum wage crew.
Create of eggs is $6 in walmat

Minimum wage here is $15 per hour and still that egg is not as fresh as what is consumed in Nigeria. I have a huge distrust for eggs that need to be refrigerated. I get from the general store, a crate of free run eggs here is around $8.50. Its the organic that is expensive.

That plantain is good, here it is around $1.20 per lb for a plantain and still not sweet like Nigerian plantain.
So what exactly is your point, if you are in America for food why not come back to Nigeria and settle down to be getting fresh egg?

I have never heard of a figurative oil change. Will be glad if you explain more. I took a car to the mechanic for servicing. Its called oil change here.
I'm glad you meant it literally. I'm too ashamed to enlighten you on the figurative meaning of changing oil.

You are just being absolutely insensitive or maybe ignorant. Whichever, stop it and focus on what seem to be working for you at the moment.

I have my tickets for the end of the month already. Nigeria is fun, my friend. You need to learn how to survive and thrive in the system. Nigeria is overall cheaper for me from my research.

How many people get 6k a day in Nigeria? Out of 200m, only 5m can boast of 6k per day. However, where ever you see egg of 16$, average man in that country earns above 20$ per day.

However, my problem in Nigeria is not food, we have un-harvested abundance of food. I remember growing up, I eat egg every day for free. We eat chicken at will, they were plenty. Whatever happened is what no one can explain.

In Nigeria, an average man is sad. If not for buzz and bazz, and all these big nyashes... Nothing good about Nigeria again.
Don't give up on Nigeria, the country will be good again. I have that belief deep down.

A crate of organic eggs is cheaper in Nigeria than in the United States, where you reside, because our farming and certification systems in Nigeria are far less developed than in the United States, and because the production of organic eggs by Nigerian poultry farmers here does not undergo the same strict standards and costs as in the United States, resulting in lower prices due to a lack of egg production regulation in Nigeria.
US is good crap. Do you know that eggs from the US and Cznada are banned from the EU? Why do you think most people zre obese in the US?

You guys think very lowly of Nigeria.

Millions of people get more than 6k a day in Nigeria.

That is actually smart, I plan to do same sometimes in the future. The way to go is to produce your own food.

Also create your own land, refine your own fuel, manufacture your cement and build your own house because it's cheaper!😄😄

That is your personal experience which is based on a lot of things.

1. Where you live in Nigeria
2. Whether you rent or own your house
3. Whether you have to leave your house for work before Money comes in
4. What denomination of income your earn in Nigeria.

My friends in Nigeria are having fun and we talk everyday. I was there in 2023 and it was fun.

There is 99% probability I will never have your experience in Nigeria.

You are not thinking correctly that is why people like uou always see problems. I love problems because it challenges me to come up with.profitable solutions. There are problems anywhere you live in the world not only Nigeria.

It depends on how you look at it.From the figures you quoted, it means that using eggs as an index, the PPP exchange rate (purchasing power parity) is 353 naira per dollar. This is far below nominal market rate of about 1540.So no matter how little you earn abroad, if you manage to save a little USD,once you arrive Nigeria and convert to naira at the nominal market rate, you have a lot of spending power which is to your advantage.

Can you be a banker and have a side hustle? It's either you are on your own or stay with the minimum way. Let's a banker earns 250k monthly (that's even Manager's salary grin). Subtract the expenses involving power, feeding, healthcare, and renting.
who tell you say managers salary in a bank is 250k?

That’s how you lots misinform people.
