First Son Stops Father’s Burial In Imo Over Unpaid Entitlements (Photos/Video) by Glimpsetv(op): 4:33pm On Aug 22, 2025
A mild drama played out in Imo State as the first son of the family refused to allow the burial of a deceased man to proceed until his demands were met.

The man, who introduced himself as a retired Assistant Superintendent of Police, stood his ground and insisted that according to Igbo tradition, he must be fully settled as the first son of the family before the burial could take place.

Speaking in Igbo language, he explained his reasons for the resistance, emphasizing that his rights as the first son were backed by culture and must be respected. He maintained that the burial would not go on until the family upheld the custom.

The incident has since drawn attention and reactions online, with many people debating whether some African customs and traditions, such as this, should be dropped or reformed in today’s society.

Give him the deceased, let him eat it now. This is what happens when your whole existence is about money, no empathy, no decency, just insatiable greed for money

He is in order...

Culture and tradition is what it is and should be respected.

Just that in life people can take advantage of any circumstance or situation including wayward children.

Dude doesn't look like an ASP. Whatever the case he is only trying to take advantage of the situation.

If one raises wayward children he should expect wayward actions at his funeral!
