I have my tickets for the end of the month already. Nigeria is fun, my friend. You need to learn how to survive and thrive in the system. Nigeria is overall cheaper for me from my research.
If you're working in Nigeria and earning in naira, you won't be talking like this

How many percentage of Nigerians earn the minimum wage? You people are always quick to référence the minimum wage of 70,000, most earn more than that amount.
There are millions of Nigerians who dont make up to 70k in a month.

You may be right. I try to earn in USD and spend in the local currency and, I will never live in Lagos but in the smaller towns where things are relatively cheap. What I pay for one month here can pay for a year's duplex in Ibadan. You see where I am coming from?

Good question. First, I must point out I never regretted leaving Nigeria. My only regret is staying away from Nigeria for too long. I should have been back like five years ago and, I would never discourage anyone from traveling out, my only concern is staying away for too long and abandoning Nigeria.

I have learnt a lot my time here on how to survive anywhere in the world, I have a good career here and I think this is the best time for me.
I am not saying there are no chances of failure in my plan but if that happens, I would simply hop on a plane and leave again. My job is never affected anywhere in the world and I will make more money in Nigeria than anywhere abroad. I want to take advantage of cheap labour and our population of over 200m.
But you left Nigeria to find better opportunity because you didn't see such opportunity in Nigeria?

How many people get 6k a day in Nigeria? Out of 200m, only 5m can boast of 6k per day. However, where ever you see egg of 16$, average man in that country earns above 20$ per day.

However, my problem in Nigeria is not food, we have un-harvested abundance of food. I remember growing up, I eat egg every day for free. We eat chicken at will, they were plenty. Whatever happened is what no one can explain.

In Nigeria, an average man is sad. If not for buzz and bazz, and all these big nyashes... Nothing good about Nigeria again.
Very very very dirty ugly politics happened starting from the politics that let to the unseating of GEJ.

And then the terrible needless insecurity doing deadly damages

What is baffling is that leaders don't want to address it.

I had a 33 000liters petroleum truck business in Nigeria while working full time as a corporate oil and gas accountant. My siblings were mad at me for resigning my job and leaving for abroad. I was in charge of loading ago to every part of Nigeria

It was not solely for financial reasons that I left. I was curious to see the world and very young in my 20ies so.

I know this is the easiest way to mock those in Nigeria but God will help us in Jesus name, amen.
My brother and sisters are all in Nigeria. I have friends in Nigeria who are doing very well. What is your point exactly

And you earn how much per month?
70,000/30 = #2,333 per day. That's the highest pay in the country.
Here you need about 3 days salary to buy one crate of eggs.

I know about someone in Canada earning $100 daily.
100/16.99 = 5.89 ie more than 5 crates with one day wage and that's not the only job the person does.

Nigeria is not working at least for now, period.
Does not work that way in real life, most have multiple sources of income and I don't see anyone surviving on 70k a month.

They are supposed to put egg in the fridge at 4°C it is standard practice.
ISO SOP number I cant remember again.
Nigerians like OP always loves deceiving themselves, being hypocritical.

Next thing they will say the food that people are eating abroad is junk foods. If it were junk why can't they see it Nigeria to buy? And if available why is it so expensive beyond reach of average Nigerians..

They just like consoling and fooling themselves in their sufferings. For example Indomine of 3k now went to 18k 🙀🙀 now 15k I think.
Why do you think most people are obese and diabetic in the US? Most foods abroad are serious junk foods and, we eat way better in Nigeria. Even the fruits here have been genetically modified with little benefits and more sugar.
You don't know how good you have it until you lose what you have.

Stop comparing apples to oranges. How do you explain to a common man on the street that car of 20 years old aka a 2005 Toyota Corolla is 9.7 million has of 3 months ago?. How can a 20 years old car be worth 10 million naira?
Honestly to me it doesn't make any sense. Nigeria needs to work on its economy. Your alleged research can't and won't work because the strength and the stability of the currency was not placed as a methodology in driving to you conclusion that: "Nigeria is overall cheaper for me from my research"
Have you lived and spent money outside Nigeria? If you have not, then I am better informed than you on the subject and know what I am talking about.

You're a comedian! A one bedroom apartment costs monthly minimum of $800 in the USA, health insurance is about $200 a month, electricity is about $100 a month, water, sewage and trash is about another $100 a month. Food is about $150 a month if you're frugal, let's not talk about other bills like phone, internet, car insurance and misc, all that could cost another $200 to $300. Looking at all these, you really think a minimum wage worker in the US is enjoying or balling enough to be able to afford $16 eggs? COMEDY grin grin
A minimum wage worker is probably living on overdraft with a negative account balances and one step away from filing bankruptcies with a medical emergency.

The egg only needs to be refrigerated because it was washed. Not because it’s inorganic. Organic eggs will still need to be refrigerated if they are washed.

And the eggs in Nigeria are not organic. I bought eggs last month in Nigeria. The yolks were all pale like they’re malnourished.
I’m sure farmers are having to cut back on quality feed due to hardship.

Don’t get me started on the cost of things in Nigeria. I was paying California level prices for basic commodities (not luxury)
All my life in Nigeria, we never have to refrigerate fresh eggs. Even in the UK, eggs are never refrigerated but US and Canada have some of the most genetically modified foods in the world.

Stop this nonsense 😡😡 angry angry
This topic is over flogged but I just had to wade into this.

$500 purchasing power in the United States is not the same with N769 thousand in Nigeria.

In the USA, you earn in dollars and spend your dollars there. In Nigeria, you earn your naira and spend it here.

Your argument only makes sense if every dollar earned in the United States is being spent here in Nigeria in foreign exchange (naira).

N769, 000 will give you more purchasing power in Nigeria than $500 will give you in the United States.

Even as bad as the economy is, N200, 000 to N300,000 monthly as salary in less expensive cities or town will earn you better living in Nigeria than $1000 monthly in the United States not to talk of N700, 000 plus.

Mostly, in American cities, even the average $1500 monthly ain't enough for a family of 2 or 3 and that's why it's often referenced that they do additional one or two jobs to keep afloat.

Nevertheless, they abroad have advantages of more open jobs due to high industrialization, and credit system economy, but stop comparing purchasing power of low dollar amount and high naira rate.
Your point is irrelevant to my Post. You should be directing this to the OP, not me. I'm only using the OP's logic of converting Dollar to Naira as if they are the same. Please read and comprehend before responding, thanks.

Everything just cost since APC took over 2015 buhari and tinubu please take us back to our former economy we're tired. Before I used to buy turkey like ice fish. I hardly buy cow meat talkless of ice fish. But now to buy chicken is another level of thinking everyday ice fish it's not fair and many are still preparing to vote tinubu in again. Just imagine how a whole 16 years will be with APC regime.

These you peoples annoying comparisons is getting stale day by day. Very annoying.

It is just like you people want to be mocking people.

I believe you are the USA. Many of us live outside too.

A mechanic making 25 dollar per hour in the USA can afford 2 crates comfortably. Just with 1 hour salary.

A mechanic working in Nigeria even under a notable company cannot even buy half crate with 3 hours salary.

Going by your stale comparison, it requires 12,000 naira to buy just 2 crates. How many mechanics earn 12,000 naira daily not to talk of hourly?

Let us not even talk about civil servants. Many of them earn less than 30k monthly. I mean millions of them.

That means their salaries will finish just buying 5 crates of egg!

What happens to other necessities of life?

Will your one day salary in the USA finish just buying 5 crates of eggs? Let us not talk about 1 month.

Guy please stop. I beg you in the name of God almighty. You are mocking people.

If you have spare cash, support people in Nigeria so that people can eat.

People are mad hungry in that country!

N.B
I live extremely far away from that hellfire on earth.

It is obvious President Tinubu may have damaged Nigeria beyond repair. God help that country.
Same you that collected $25 per house wont pay $10 for same service to your fellow country man in Nigeria. You will say wetin he wan carry the money do

His explanation is very clear....you can't compare apples with grapes because they have different components. Before you compare cost of things in US to Nigeria, firstly compare the per capital income or even minimum income. If a minimum hourly wage income can buy a grate of eggs in USA, you have to see if same minimum hourly rate in Nigeria can buy a crate of eggs.

Minimum hourly income in naija is 70,000÷22(days)÷(40hr)= NGN79.55. Covert to USD is 5cents grin

May God help Nigeria o. The minimum wage self no go round. Some people earn waaaay lesser.

Nigeria is not hell fire, when you return make sure you return with the abroad minimum income fa.
Imagine someone earning 200k in Nigeria using 80k to 100k pay rent monthly. Una no dey wan talk the disadvantages na. Same percentage tax you lay there come your own country you no go wan pay am. Wicked people.

So, everyone in Nigeria earns the minimum right? Is that what you are telling me?

I can tell you there are lots of homeless poor folks here. Lots of educated people living on debts and overdraft to survive. I have community fb group where some whites beg for good to eat.

I don’t know what guys the idea things are only hard in Nigeria.
If you refuse to have a skill in demand or an alternatesirce of income, it is your faults for earning N70k a month.
