Remi Tinubu Commissions LASG Built Leather Hub by Lanrelagboi(op): 6:34am On Aug 24, 2025
Today, the new leather processing and manufacturing hub in Mushin was commissioned by the First Lady, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, whose work in empowering women and communities has inspired so many of us. To honour her lifelong dedication to social investment and empowerment, we have named the facility after her. In that spirit, 70 percent of the jobs here are reserved for women and young people.

This factory will create 10,000 direct jobs and benefit more than 150,000 artisans across Lagos. It is equipped to produce shoes, bags, belts, and other products at a scale that small businesses could not achieve on their own.

Our hides and skins will no longer leave Nigeria unprocessed. They will be transformed here into shoes, bags, belts, and garments proudly stamped ‘Made in Lagos, Made in Nigeria’. With time, this hub is expected to generate over $250 million in export earnings every year.

But for me, the true success will be measured by the cobbler in Mushin who earns more for his craft, the tanner in Oko-Oba who now has steady work, and the young designer in Yaba who can finally take her brand to the world.

This is the promise of Lagos, the promise of opportunities that uplift households and strengthen our economy.

This is what the previous leaders would have done with the abundant hides and skin in Kano, a viable Shoe Industry would have been envisioned via backward integration.

You can take this to the next umuna meeting.
We Nigerians are happy with good news, so we are not interested in "kicking Tinubu out" in 2027.

We Nigerians voted him in 2023, we will vote him again in 2027.

Take it easy and never bet your life on kicking Tinubu out because it's gonna be a big labour in vain. It's obvious that it's an action out of hatred and not for economic issues or other reasons.

I’m anti Tinubu, anti Remi, anti the one they call iyaloja that disturbs the peace of my brothers at Ladipo but I’ll give credit to the Tinubus when they’ve done something that deserves to be praised and this project is one of those.

We’ve lamented for long how our leather industry has been undermined for ages. We’ve consumed every bit of kpomo/kanda that should’ve been transformed to more useful product.
We spend more patronising Italian and Brazilian leathers when we have enough resources to surpass these countries. This industry will not only add value to our economy, it’ll transform the lives of those who’ll benefit from various employment opportunities that this factory will bring.

My only regret is that most of these are stationed in the south west.

All this will be done. Just wait for it.

All the fake tyre importation by that tribe will be reduced soon.

We will produce what we need.

But you know them, they will not be happy about it grin

And you know, their unhappiness is our joy grin

The initiative is good but just wait to see what the youth and people in charge of the facility will do with it in the next 2years. How they will steal the equipment and run down the facility in no time.
We always shout the Government while we are just as bad, if not worse. Nigerians really need to change their orientation and perspective of this country if we are to go anywhere meaningful. All these selfish attitude of me, me, me, my family, myself, me-myself-and-I must stop! But currently, we are far away from it.
May God help us.
