This is a funny question to ask. How many people did banks and telecoms employ? Really? You mean they stopped employing after OBj left office? Do you know how many service providers and contractors have been blessed grim the two sectors?
It's even funny to hear people who defend fuel price increase from 200-1000 claim that people groaned under N20 increase in fuel price which was usually met with stiff resistance from labour. Obj's time was better. My mother was a teacher then. After Obj increase minimum wage, she changed our interior decor and even started a side business. How many civil servants can even afford rent today after minium wage increase not to talk of starting a side business? Are you guys not telling people to go and farm after closing from work?
Both telecoms and the banking industry even till today do not employ up to 100,000 Nigerians directly and maybe close to 500,000 indirectly and what’s that compared to our teeming population. That some folks were privileged to have such opportunities never meant that was the reality of many Nigerians. Thank God for your family.

In 2007/2008 I was employed as a fish farm manger somewhere in abule Egba in Lagos earning 20k per month and yes that was my reality then as a graduate before going for my masters. That could not feed me for a whole month talk less of accommodation. Thanks to my parents for a roof over my head then. Let’s be honest to what is true. All these Nigerians were richer back then was never the reality for many and most people.

You think he is special that they wiped it off? Did you for once think about what he traded for it?

It was in 2006 just few months left in office that oil climb to 60 dollars per barrel. Remember it started from 8 dollars

Obj paid subsidy, paid debt infact he wiped off our debt to almost 90% off.

Better than that scam published yesterday. Also of importance is debt and major money saving policies like subsidy removal. Imagine if refineries had been privatised too. More savings.

What happened to her MAGIC under Goodluck Jonathan?
The art of taking glory for things beyond our influence is astounding. Same diseasr APC showed symptoms of when they published Tinubu's own side by side with GEJ and Buhari trying to score cheap points.
Ngozi Okonjo Iweala made it clear. Obasanjo had the will to save and Goodluck Jonathan didn't.

Finito.

No one has it as good as Obasanjo.
He knew the task ahead and was ready to face it head on.

One beautiful thing about Obasanjo I so much love about him is he not tribalistic and you cannot even fashion him to any religion.

He was the president for everybody, Yar'Adua also to an extent.
Obasanjo had lower cost of running Government cause he was a powerful President. Buhari had the opportunity but misused it.
Re: From $4.99b To $43.17b: How Did OBJ Achieve This? by okoloto: 8:33pm On Aug 23, 2025
OBJ was able to through ngozi okonjo iwella to secure some debt forgiveness so there was no much debt servicing and price of oil went up.
However he tried so much to lift and not squander the economy.
But after the squandering and borrowing started again hence where we are.
Tinubu is making some gain due to subsidy removal and currency devaluation. Taking money and food out of the people's table grin
But I don't think squandering has stopped or even minimized.

So your new excuse is that telecoms and banking do not employ millions directly? What a joke!! Sounds more like bad belle. Telecoms and banking are easily the two biggest employers of labour in the private sector. Every part of Nigeria you go to, you're sure to see a banking and/or telecoms worker even in less developed states. Name one sector with such spread in the private sector.
You were earning 20k in 2007/08 and you said you weren't earning well? 20k then was like x3 of the minimum wage. Do you know that there are people that earn 50k today, which is even below minimum wage? Some even earn less than that as graduate teachers! How can 20k not feed only you in a whole month in a country where the minimum wage then was 7500? What are you eating? One cow per day? Nigerians were far richer then. Even you were far richer then. I can bet a manager of that fame farm today will earn in the region 100-150k which is just x2 of today's minimum wage or less. So compared to him, were you richer or poorer then?

Bye-pass? That's what you're comparing to a full stretch of 120km road?
Even Ibadan-Ilesha was constructed by the military under Abacha. Who is talking about state universities? We're talking federal here! Most federal universities were created by the military including polytechnics. Take it to the bank

If I tell you I didn't have that 20k then will you believe me? What was the minimum wage then? So, how many could truly afford the basics you talk about, make una fear God abeg
Then in 2001 with ur 20k u can buy 4 bags of rice today 4 bags of rice is getting to 300 to 400k

With 20k in 2001 or 2003 you can buy 800 to 900 litres of fuel today you can get only 23 litres of fuel.

Nigeria was way better then than now. The fact u don't have it then means u were unemployed or under employed then.

In 2005 if u are working in the banking sector then u will be comfortable. If u are a lecturer earning 150k as a family then u are comfortable and more than ok.
But today any earning 300k is like a poor man.

What i mean is that today the middle income earners have been wiped off.

Nigerian per capital income was placed around 1800 then. Today is less than 800.

You people can lie. As in pure blatant lie. There was no time oil prices reached $100 mark under Obasanjo. Haba. Infact OBJ meet it at $17 per barrel and it went to about $65 by the time he left in 2007.

It was only during GEJ that it went to $100 per barrel and pass the $100 mark

Like we tell you people, propaganda doesn't do government. You can win with propaganda. You can't rule with it because your ineptitude can't be hidden.

Eyin Opuro oshi.

https://www.thecable.ng/fact-check-no-oil-price-wasnt-100-per-barrel-between-1999-and-2019-as-buhari-claimed/
Oil prices almost quadrupled, but to you that meant oil prices didn't increase as stated by the guy you responded to? I'm still trying to get your point. Are you corroborating what he said, or countering him?

That 7500 minimum wage you are talking about go and find out how much accommodation was then to see if that that was truly a living wage and for your information agriculture o yes is the largest employer of labour in Nigeria in the private sector so for you to say telecoms and banking are the largest employer of labour in Nigeria I just know you don’t even know what you’re talking about but just being political which is never a reality 😂 so in a state like benue it’s banking or telecoms that’s the largest employer omo you’re not serious 😂

Before you beginbro praise Tinubu factor in debt incurred by him that is when you know if he is doing well or not .

A man that borrows 20naira and put put 20naira in his savings account has not saved anything rather he is indebted.
helinues:
There is something mutual about those who increased the FX they met. They all have political will.

President Tinubu is just 2 years old, oil price have not been that high but still saving .I am just imagining what our FX would be by 2031.

And to those who have been shouting it should have been more than that because of the subsidy removal, how about the state governors that their money have been increased for over a year now? How about different projects across the Nigeria regions?

Nigeria is in the right direction with president Tinubu

This is a big lie, even chat gpt of all people doesn’t even agree:

Out of the currently 63 federal universities (as of 2025), about 27 were founded under military governments (1966–1999). The rest have been created under civilian democratic governments since 1999.

Because if you're from a poor background, you know you need to work harder in school if you don't have connection. If you're from a privileged background it's only training you know you're doing at a fish farm to eventually set up your own business. And you'll list your time there as a training not as a setback.
