PRAYING WITH GROANINGS AND DEEP SIGHS

Likewise THE SPIRIT ALSO HELPETH OUR INFIRMITIES: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered (Romans 8:26).

When we speak in tongues, we do so by faith. We open our mouths and the Holy Spirit gives us utterance. Here, your spirit is praying in tongues. The Bible says, “For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful” (1 Corinthians 14:14). So, it’s your spirit that prays in tongues even though the utterance is granted to your spirit by the Holy Spirit.

But there's another one that's a higher level of prayer. That’s what is written for us in Romans 8:26 which we read as our opening scripture. The underlined phrase "... the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities..." tells us how the Spirit helps and takes hold together with us in our weakness. He props you up and helps you pray in line with the perfect will of God especially when you face dire situations and are at your wit's end. He takes over and helps you pray correctly.

The AMPC puts it beautifully. It says, “So too the [Holy] Spirit comes to our aid and bears us up in our weakness; for we do not know what prayer to offer nor how to offer it worthily as we ought, but the Spirit Himself goes to meet our supplication and pleads in our behalf with unspeakable yearnings and groanings too deep for utterance.” At this higher level of prayer, the Holy Spirit Himself has taken over, making intercessions with groanings and deep sighs according to the will of God.

You may find yourself crying uncontrollably but not out of pain; keep at it and don’t be troubled. It’s the Holy Spirit praying through you. This is the most effective kind of prayer, and it’s the Spirit’s joy to make it happen for you. So, each time you pray, yield yourself to the Holy Spirit to pray through you, and you’ll be amazed at the impact and the tremendous results in your life and circumstances. Hallelujah!

Prayer / Confession
Dear Father, thank you for the ministry of the Holy Spirit who helps me in prayer. I yield myself completely to Him to intercede through me with groanings and deep sighs, causing your perfect will to be established in my life and in the lives of others. I walk in the light of your Word, always led by the Spirit, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

There’s nothing like praying and groanings with deep sighs.

Once your groanings are uttered, then it has no business with Romans 8:26.

More so, are you the Spirit to do the groanings? When did the apostles or Jesus himself ever do any groaning?

Heb.5.7 During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission.

John.11.33 Therefore, when Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her weeping, He groaned in the spirit and was troubled.

1Cor.14.18 I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you.

You mustn’t defend everything. You don’t know everything.

That your men of God teaches it, doesn’t make it right.

The Bible refers to it as groanings of “THE SPIRIT.”

He did no kiss any ground, the commenter, just added his ingredient into the story. cheesy

You that did not read the bible, you took it as truth, why don't you go and read the bible for yourself and ask God to give you understanding smiley

I see many people only depend on peoples comment as if they are the bible themselves, but will never check the book. Many have deceived themselves with empty comments.

Jesus prays to the Father because of many things, like the Eternal word of God became flesh and as a man but the seed of God Holy Spirit, he showed perfection and depended only on God, in flesh he talks and communicate to God through prayer.

He is one with the Father, they are one God, Jesus is almighty God, but he took a lower form, the word of God became flesh, and dwelt amongst us. He is the seed of the Holy Ghost, he cannot sin, yet he was tempted in every way.

AntiChristian:
Was he praying to himself or to another God?

Why does he need prayer? Why kiss the ground like Muslims?

It isn't US or our Spirit that Prays with Groaning BUT the Holy Spirit.

I used to think like you before but read in context and you will see that
Whether we pray in our Understanding or with our spirits, it is the Holy Spirit that repackages the Prayers before God.

Rom 8:26-27:
"Likewise the Spirit also helps our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searches the hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because he makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God."

there is nothing like for us in the Greek text, what's written is but he the (holy) Spirit makes intercession (interceeds) with unspeakable utterance(groanings/sighs)

Even if we don't understand clearly what Paul wrote here as his aim wasn't to speak concerning praying in the spirit,

1Cor.14.14 - For if I pray in tongues, my spirit is praying, but I don't understand what I am saying.
1Cor.14.15 - Well then, what shall I do? I will do both. I will pray in the spirit, and I will pray in words I understand. I will sing in the spirit, and I will sing in words I understand.

If you interpret praying in the spirit to mean the spirit praying

Then should we also interpret praying in our understanding as our understanding praying?

Jesus said HOW you should pray

In secret, 1 Corinthians 14.2 no one hears what you are saying apart from God

Say Our Father who is in heaven, Rom.8.15 For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him (by the Spirit) we cry, "Abba, Father."

How can you call God who is Spirit Father if you don't have His Spirit
Rom.8.16 For his Holy Spirit speaks to us deep in our hearts and tells us that we are God's children.

Hallowed be your name, Jesus said in John.4.24 For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth."

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done

God's kingdom, is it not in the Holy Spirit, Rom.14.17 For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Does praying in the spirit not seeking the will of God to be done, Romans 8:27

Why do people argue over what Christian experiences you haven't grown into?

If you consecrate your life and avoid sin, you will testify to how it happens when it comes.

Salvation ➡️ Sanctification ➡️ Holy Spirit Baptism ➡️ Dedicated Gifts of the Spirit ➡️ Special Assignments.

The same way Moses knew how Genesis chapter 1 and 2 came about, that is how John knew. Just imagine the type of question you are asking me.

Again, why don’t you listen to yourself.

I simply reiterated to you what the scripture says: “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities; for we know not what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered..”

How come your own groanings are uttered, and by you as well? If you know how to do it, why will the Bible say you don’t know how to do it?

You see, the problem here is a case of “puffed up” by knowledge. Unfortunately, you see clearly the word of God, but as much as one popular “apostle” man of God somewhere has taught and support a motion, you have to fit everything you read, hear or come across within the narrow understanding of that idea. So I know very well that my words are simply bouncing against a hard wall 😃😃😃

The closest to the thing you GenZ folks refer to as “groanings” in the Bible is that of Hannah. And it never was “groanings.”
