Faith Morey Leads OCF’s Mission to Give Children Dignity Through Classroom Renovation

Philanthropist and TV personality, Faith Morey through her Okachi Charity Foundation has renovated classroom blocks at LEA Nursery and Primary School, Zhigakuchi Village, Mpape, Abuja, giving pupils in the underserved community a safe space to learn.

Okachi Charity Foundation funded the full renovation of a classroom block, which included new roofing, structural rebuilding, installation of doors, windows, desks, whiteboards, painting, and ventilation repairs.

The project became necessary after heavy rains left the school’s structures unsafe. Morey said the decision to rebuild rather than patch repairs was about restoring dignity. “A child’s environment is their first teacher. Infrastructure is not a luxury; it is a statement of worth,” she noted.

The renovation is the first phase of a broader commitment that will see all three classroom blocks rehabilitated, water and toilet systems installed, and a playground constructed. The foundation also plans to bring in volunteer teachers and partner with education authorities for sustainability.

With this intervention, pupils of Zhigakuchi Village now have renewed hope of learning in a conducive environment.

When a private individual has to do this it points to government failure and is an embarrassment on the FCT minister. This is not something to be applauded because it shows someone significantly dropped the ball.

No it doesn’t but demonstrates a person with purpose and a desire to leave a legacy and affect lives around them.

A taker will not understand but a giver will and that is why they never lack.

Some call it philanthropy. May God cause you to have a giving spirit.

It’s a public school. Renovations is the responsibility of the government. If she wants to truly give she can build a school and give it away. I won’t applaud her for going to government property to fix it. That’s government failure. It’s not about giving heart. It’s performative.
