Did Ronaldo start dabbling with politicians?
They are both from diffrent parts of the world bro. In Nigeria politicians will come to you for endorsement and you will bill them while cashing out handsomely ; it doesn't mean u are broke.

Okocha does punditry like his fellow ex-footballers in Europe which I believe he draws reasonable income from.

He obviously has multiple streams of income in his retirement and he's not saying no to any politician that decides to flash cash in his direction. If you are expecting him to say no to such offers, it only means u are moving away from the argument of him being an astute businessman to him placing morality above his income.

If Boniface career quench after his current Leverkusen contract he will have an upper middle class lifestyle abroad..If he does footballer expenses on that same earnings he will end up in abroad trenches like Oliseh them. He can never return to Nigerian trenches like Babangida, Oruma, Rufa and Yekini them

Taribo earned that much at the peak of his footballing career but each time ex-footballers are lamenting about "neglect" from FG he's always at the forefront.

He's always giving the vibe of someone who didn't make much and need the benevolence of the government enjoy life after retirement. Only God knows what he did with how own money Sha ; I mean he even had to start a church.

Actually they do endorse politicians
Ronaldinho Neymar Rivaldo Lucas Moura, Felipe Melo Cafu and Romario endorsed Bolsonaro the presidential candidate in the last election

He's not doing the unthinkable and he's not alone on that. A whole lot of European and South American ex-footballers do the same. You see them in TV commercials, they do punditry and as Raumdeuter pointed out some of them even endorse politicians.

I didn't even know this. He was making it seem like Okocha hustling means he is broke when South Americans and European ex-players also do same.

The Russia-Ukraine situation is completely different from what’s happening with Israel. Ukraine never attacked Russia. And really, what’s the point of being a sovereign nation if you can’t decide which organizations you want to join?

If Russia wasn’t constantly bullying its neighbors, those countries wouldn’t be so eager to align with its enemies. In fact, Russia’s actions only prove them right for doing so.

Two completely different situations.
That's my point too... please don't misunderstand me,the fight is almost similar(territory/survival battle).

In Russia's case they were the aggressors, reason it beats me that our resident anti-Western c.lo.w.ns hails Russia tagging it "self defense",and still supports Iran, Hamas, and Hezbollah calling Isreal the terrorist/agressor.You get it now?
😁😁

Only an unwise person will have a brand like Okocha's and will say no to endorsements/adverts for brands who need his influence to push their business for a fee.

I still an advert Thierry Henry on DSTV this last weekend. That is a world cup winner who has dabbled into punditry, coaching and several brand ambassadorships.

For gambling, there are many that won't.

Khaby Lame has one of the highest followers on TikTok, yet he turned down advertising for an alcohol brand. He said he did that because majority of his audience are teenagers, and he didn't want that to ruin them.

Even Mane refused to participate in holding a beer when he was in Bayern. He only sat for the picture, and didn't hold the glass.

Okocha is not broke, but doesn't mean someone is unwise because he doesn't promote Gambling.

If u follow this discussion from beginning u will see where I mentioned except one's religious/personal beliefs prohibits gambling & Alcohol. Those people u mentioned up there fall in this category because of their religious beliefs. Someone like Okocha has no such obligations so it will be wise if he turns down such business proposal.

There are hundreds of players in Nigeria that are not begging, and are not promoting anything. It doesn't make them unwise.

JayJay wants to promote it, and it's fine. There's nothing wise or unwise there.

A player can still retire and disappear from the public till death. Nothing unwise there too.

Khabib is actually at the peak of his fame...so he can easily make much from other brands. His reasons are commendable...but I would have loved to know if he can tunr down the offer if his fame have waned and he isnt getting courted by brands needing his face for a push.

Mane issue had to do with religion. We understand.

One of the definitions/meaning of the word wise is for one to have or show good judgement. I believe taking up a proposal like influencing for betting companies or alcoholic beverages (when you don't have any personal or religious opinion against) is a wise thing to do.

It means u showed a good sense of judgement when faced with opportunity to increase your source of income.

While it is easy to assume, it doesn't change the fact that there are people that won't do it, even with next to nothing in earnings.

Okocha may not be hungry. Take away BetKing, and he might still be very okay. Yet, he chose to do it.

Mikel, with more fame that him, is not promoting betting (yet).

There's no wise or unwise decision here, in my opinion

India just banned Betting, whether the owners or the promoters have any religious opinion or not.

Maybe Okocha thinks it's wise to promote Gambling because he will make more money

Maybe Mikel thinks it is wise not to promote Gambling, because it will destroy more lives.

Any retired Nigerian footballer with even $1m should contact Raumdeuter for financial advice and he won't live in trenches in the USA for the rest of his life. Boniface won't tell anyone that he can't raise even $1m as we speak. There are retired people living fine in highbrow areas and their monthly earnings are lesser than $50k. 5% of $1m = $50,000 It's down to strategic financial planning.

When i make better money i will start hyping Boathand and Fraudiola and ask Raumdeuter to send me the 'expo'.

Meanwhile, Yekini had mental problem but he was living at Oluyole industrial estate before he died. He was living where the big guns in Ibadan were living back then, he wasn't in trenches o. grin

The point is about rationality and not about morality. Some people may choose to place morality over rationality while others will prioratize being rational and making good judgement by not turning down an opportunity to increase their stream of income. That's the context in which being wise and unwise is used in this matter.

As regards the India's ban on online gambling, it can be argued that Indians are more religious and even conservative than some Africans sef.

I'm guessing Airmark expects he'd retire to Nigeria after his playing days, cause 1BN no plenty like that.
Maybe i am too stingy and conservative unlike many of you guys who can't manage $30,000 a month.
