izicode1: Let's hope the bot doesn't ban me. Just pray it doesn't happen to you, Amazon has become extremely toxic and strict. You can be innocent and still get bitten. A lot of us use AI, not because we can't write, but because we can't afford to waste all of that time and end up losing our royalties. If it wasn't for the relentless terminations, I would have had some spare cash to diversify into other platforms through publishdrive. I keep getting banned every time I comment or post anything by this Nairaland bot, does that mean I'm at fault here? People saying it's because he "spammed" 80 books, I laugh at their ignorance. As a broke independent author, 80 books in 3 years is extremely slow. Very slow. If you understand prompt engineering, you can write top quality books with AI. I see big independent publishers doing it, I could write with AI and you would never notice. Amazon isn't being fair to Nigerian publishers, whether we like it or not, writing is business. Yes, some people try to play the system but innocent people end up getting hit. Now, it's even worse. Almost all the publishers I know in this game don't use Naija accounts. |

lacasera14: There's a lot of other platforms that offer foreign bank details. Check out grey, geegpay (can't remember this one), and cleva. |

Love800: Bro, go to YouTube — you think teaching you how things work is going to take a couple of sentences? Or buy a course. I can refer you to someone (although his niches are trends and risky). That's the least I can do. |

JimD:Lmao! Shady tactics? Are you a publisher on the platform? Have you made good money from them? I'm not talking imaginary earnings please. You'll know when you get there. There was nothing shady about my works yet my account was taken down for operating two accounts. Why on hell would I need two accounts when I was making millions from the platform? Pray tell. |
| Re: Reflection On My Amazon KDP Journey And Ban by SuperOnyi: 6:05pm On Aug 25, 2025 |
HelenaWills: Let them keep talking ignorantly, others are saying it's because OP "spammed" Amazon with 80 books in 3 years. People publish 100 quality books within month especially with the help of AI prompts engineering. I also lost my account, they said there's a feature in mine that was similar to another book (which is definitely a big publisher's work). They weren't specific. They banned two more after that one. That's when I decided to go underground and at this point... Oh well, God... |

Kalatium:Unless you're writing low content books, eighty books in three years is a lot. Even AI cannot help you write 80 books in the same time. You'd have to sacrifice a lot of editing to accomplish that. And yeah, AI writing still need plenty of human editing whether it is fiction or non-fiction. 80 books in three years? If the books are short, less than 20k words, may be. But it is almost too much to write 80 unique full length novels or non-fiction in three years. I appealed. I waited. I hoped. But the response was the same — rejection without clarity. They often won't tell you what you did wrong. They'll start by blocking your books. Then eventually suspend or terminate your account. You often have to figure what you'd done wrong or what you'd done that might've come across as intentionally violating their policy. You'd then address it in your email to them, apologise, and promise to refrain from it in future. Amazon have all kind of arbitrary rules they don't enforce until you get reported by a customer. Then you get blocked and banned, whereas other others violating the rules get away because no one reports them. In your case, you probably got reported by an angry costumer. Read through Amazon's content guidelines again and review your books. You might've unintentionally broken a rule and an angry customer, maybe even a competing author might have reported you. There are a lot of nosy, entitled readers and jealous or elitist authors on KDP who target other authors for personal reasons. But here’s the part I want to share openly: I refuse to see this as the end.Good luck. Diversifying without Amazon is hard. All the other platforms don't have anywhere near as much customers as Amazon. And authors who diversify will tell you that practically all their royalties come from Amazon. And especially if you write fiction, you're leaving money on the table if your books are not enrolled in Select and exclusive to Amazon. What you can do if you can't get back on Amazon is simple. Start writing significantly better books with better covers, actively market on social media, build your email list, publish everywhere, publish direct, find your target reader community and introduce yourself, don't even stop at ebook, publish audio and paperback. |

SuperOnyi:Bro, quit that AI stuff. My mentor, who is an expert in this game (10 years in the game), has warned me against it. Amazon can detect AI easily because they have the resources. He always emphasized quality over anything. Your aim is to make customers happy, nothing less. These are the things that get people’s accounts terminated: Low-quality books (AI-generated, plagiarism issues, etc.). Images: A lot of people take pictures from Google, which Amazon can easily identify. Trademarked titles: Some titles have been trademarked, which can lead to termination. And many more. There is always a reason behind account termination, except for a few exceptions. People want to make this money so fast that they have turned it into a game of numbers. Imagine those annoying guys on Twitter creating challenges on the number of books published in a month. Thank God Amazon has frustrated most of them out of the business. This termination policy has made a lot of lazy people looking for fast money avoid Amazon these days. It’s a blessing to any honest author out there. I have been a freelance writer for more than 3 years i can confidently tell you that writing a good book no be beans. In evb2000 dairy, i once saw him mention not wanting to publish a book because he wasn’t sure of the quality. That’s you need to know about how important a book quality is. My mentor made me understand that the key to becoming profitable is finding a good topic. Then i got to realize to find a good topic is not easy ooo, it can take weeks. A good topic + a well written book = Happy Customers = Positive Reviews = More money Happy Amazon, Happy Customers, & Happy You |

dreamxhaser: I respect your opinion. No reasonable company is against AI as long as you provide value. Even Amazon uses AI, they're against people churning out nonsense with AI. Dude, I don't want to brag but I have met with a lot of big publishers in this industry, people making $10k to $100k and they all use AI. What about my first account? Was I also churning out books with AI? I take my time to write with AI, I use the internet for research, I'm a writer too, and I'm sure you can tell by how I write. The truth is, once Amazon's bot got their eyes on you, it's almost impossible to beat them unless you have huge resources: buy new phones, new details, etc. I say this with confidence, I have even spoken to ilegendD privately about this issue. I have spoken to Legalnaira, EMB, and so on, on this. These are guys making tens of thousands of dollars, and they know I know my stuff. Let m shock you: I created an account with my sister's phone, sim card, and everything since June, I haven't verified the account and it's still standing. I know someone managing 13 accounts and he has made tens of thousands of dollars from Amazon, usually with trends (risky). You might be safe today thinking Amazon is the Never-Do-Wrong Guy until you experience it. If the bot mistakenly blocks your book, once or twice, then the next books you publish will be blocked and rejected. I'm still coming back to Amazon but through my sister's account, publishdrive, and other aggregate platforms. And whether they like it or not, they will pay me royalties every month even though I stopped publishing . AI or no AI. Every G in this industry knows how much I was divided when it came to AI, I documented this in my diaries. But now, when dealing with these American corporations who do not care about us, give value as fast as possible to make enough money asap. They might decide to replace us soon like they have done to their staff with AI. Be wise! Edit: There's even an option to click on whether your book is AI generated or assisted. I click on them even if I do most of the work. All of the books rejected by Amazon are live on Barnes and Noble. Once I'm done with YouTube, I will make time for Barnes and Noble and Google play book. Amazon isn't the beginning and end of publishing. I know people making thousands of dollars on other platforms. The days of Amazon making me broke are over. I successfully put out 9 books and those books will find my YouTube journey . They are slaves. |

SuperOnyi:Bro! I also respect your points because we all have a different perspective on life. Regarding the bolded point: I have followed your diary, and I think you mentioned using a profitable author's name or something like that in keywords. Then you received a warning, which led you to take the book down or something, but later the account was terminated. That way, I am sure you broke the rules. The second and third accounts, I'm not sure about, but I think it revolves around using the same phone, service provider, or laptop to log in. You've been blacklisted, so I expect your account to get blocked, especially as it is a new account. Just because guys are getting away with it doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. You might not be lucky. I mean, in my years of freelancing, I've seen people's accounts get terminated recently on Fiverr for crimes they committed years ago. You should look at the bigger picture, like, are you trying to do this long term or short term? If short term, take the shortcut route and cash out as much as possible, then start something else, like a physical business. But if you intend to do it long-term, you'd better do everything the right way. About Amazon asking if you generated the book with AI or not, let me ask you: As a buyer, if the book you are buying is AI generated, won't you just go to the AI and generate the book directly instead of paying? What I have come to understand is that these buyers can get all this information from blogs, YouTube, and AI. But they choose to buy because they believe you have value to offer as a professional. Therefore, I am very certain Amazon is just gathering information to build their AI models, build an ai book generator or something. Then they will push AI-generated books aside or even ban them. But one thing is sure: they can't push human publishers aside because people will always buy a human-written book over an AI-generated book. Before we started, my mentor explained all these to me, he mentioned that over ten years, a-lot of his peers who were frustrated out of the business. He was able to stay afloat by doing things the right way and treating it like a real life business not some hustle. Maybe i am not supposed to mention this, but this is someone that has mentored the likes of EVB and others people we look up to. The evidence is there in their success that diligent and hard work pays on the long run. You mentioned this cooperations don't care about us. Do most people care about the cooperations when they try to abuse things? It’s a dog eat dog world we live in. Personally i plan on doing this for 10 to 15 years. But it’s not like i am going to relay on it over the span of those years. I intend to build my community with time and start selling on my website. But for now let’s hit the ground running. |

dreamxhaser: Like I said, I respect your opinion, and you're not wrong but most of the top books in the niche you're writing are AI generated. #Smiles. And I'm not leaving KDP, if the AI bot sets their eyes on a person, then it's war. I still received my payment notification, I still have accounts and details I plan to use. I also plan to do KDP for a long time, when I get back, I will be writing manually because I enjoy doing it. For my first account, they said my book, cover, description looked similar to another author's (they didn't show me the book), and that was a fat lie. Yes, I might have mistakenly use someone else's name and I corrected that, that was not supposed to lead to termination. My point is, they don't dish out the same consequences to everyone. I know what I'm saying. KDP will pay me until it cease to exist, I'm not bothered. I'm just saying that Amazon bots can be cursed just like other platforms. And just so you know, AI well written books are massively been pushed. I'm not saying "use AI" but never dive into that belief that Amazon is underrating AI books. #Smiles. If I show you my AI assisted books, you'll never know it was written by AI. Gone are those days I used to look down on AI just to feel superior as a writer. Amazon doesn't care! For now, I'm back to YouTube to milk it. |
