Well...... REA has the power to relay this to NERC and have it resolved. There's no two ways about it. |

This one na lie! It's a big fat lie. I just came back from the villa and the electricity was epileptic. They get one day off and two days on! And those two days on for electricity the electricity won't be constant for those two days! And what is paid monthly no reach 10k! For band A in the city you pay approx. 225.21 per kWh, VAT inclusive! |

Hmm, rural? Where they put us on band D and we seldomly have electricity supply averagely 2 hours daily or in every 24 hours and weeks of absolute blackout |

This administration has a very smart propagandist on their payroll. So the rural communities nor get name. Udu communities near Warri only saw light once in the past 15days, you will think they are talking about another country 🙆🙆🏼♀️ |

Yes this is possible and there may not be protest because most of them use only bulb and fan and maybe a small TV. It's a different ball game in the city where a family will need to consume the total monthly energy of a rural dweller in one day Meanwhile the he wise in the city invest in solar system and only using the grid as a backup |
| Re: Rural Communities Pay More For Electricity Than Band A Customers – REA by zicoraads: 5:49am On Aug 26, 2025 |
I know a lot of rural communities that have more stable electricity than cities. However, they definitely do not pay more. How can they pay more when they're not metered? Besides, apart from bulbs and maybe fans, and pressing irons, they hardly have that many appliances. |

Estimated billing na your mate ? There's a reason DISCO's refuse to distribute prepaid meters and its not because of lack of availability |

Many people on this forum don't read but jump to comment. He said some rural areas which is very true. Go to some part of Ikorodu where people use light uninterrupted for 3 straight days. |

This is a statement of fact. Explain to me how Ugbolu (Chop and Clean mouth area) in Delta state is paying N12,000 monthly or Ukala Opkunor is paying N4000 per flat not per house o! with just only bulbs no TV, Fridge or Fan. Majority are of the residents are farmers. |

It's a lie or did you meter them? most rural communities pay estimated bills. Individual house can't even pay directly to Nepa. They pay once as a community cus it's estimated billing. |

zicoraads:The man is securing his job, very big lamba. Rural areas that NEPA office don't even exist. Come to northern states and see real villages with 24hrs power supply, only the grinding mill and maybe local cinema has direct connection |

Here is my view on this issue. Nigerians are their own enemies. In Lagos presently, I can say that electricity is stable in most places that are out of the reach of hustlers. Who are hustlers? They don't want to pay bills. They prefer bribing NEPA in those days to connect illegal lines. They connect illegal air conditioning system also. In an illegal house of like 3 or 4 floors in a building containing around 15 to 20 "face me, I face you" building, everyone buys a fridge or freezer, some even have illegal AC. They use pressing iron so much that you will think they are in the business of washing clothes. Then, they don't want to use kerosene which was extremely cheap in those days, they will turn on their hot plates when ther is electricity. But when the landlord submitted application for electric connection before the tenants move in, hardly will you see more than 3 refrigerators per floor. No hot plate, AC, etc were filled in the form. So, NEPA of those days would give them transformers with the capacity of what they applied for. But then, as time went by and these hustlers became rogues, transformers start blowing anyhow. Also, rogues in NEPA in those days would rather collect bribes from industries to give them electricity rather than residents. Now, most industries generate their electricity need via gas or petrol so, these DISCOS around now don't have choice but to supply residents. Do you grab it? And the system is getting better. Here is the issue...since the rent in most developed part of Lagos is high, those rogues have ran out. Lol. Also, old houses are been demolished so that new applications are received and decent people who are ready to pay are the ones in these areas. Rogues have run to Ikorodu, Ayobo, Idimu, Ajah extension...and down beyond. Go to Lagos Mainland, Lekki, Ikoyi, etc and tell me if electricity isn't constant there. Ebute Metta used to be a terrible place in those days, now, most old houses are being demolished. What of Surulere? It's when you get to the extension (attached) where rogues still reside that are still having issues. Most people complaining here are among the rogues. And some aren't but just unfortunate to not have the means to relocate. Pray to God to bless you and leave behind the rogues in your areas. They are the wahala. They don't want to pay.....always connecting illegal stuff. The capacity of transformers in their areas canot be enough. No matter how DISCOS increase the capacities, those rogues will keep loading more appliances because they don't pay. So, DISCOS companies aren't stupid na. These residents in the rural areas use according to what they can afford. It is generally affordable when you aren't among the rogues. Lol. Good luck to you all. PAY YOUR BILLS!!! |

Rural communities where Nepa bill is contributed like burial levy? BTW, the few rural communities with steady lights are those that are opportuned to host some company infrastructures like oil rigs, power stations, federal institutions etc. Their regular electricity supply is courtesy of the infrastructure they are hosting. As for others with no federal or oil company infrastructures presence, nothing for them. |

| Re: Rural Communities Pay More For Electricity Than Band A Customers – REA by sirpharrell(m): 7:04am On Aug 26, 2025 |
Most of the comments are ignorant of the topic, as usual. The REA serves rural communities that are not connected to the national grid. They use solar energy. Those of you disputing the claims are talking of rural communities connected to the national grid. Those are not the communities he is referring to. |

Gorem2013:One day? One hour! My house can consume 6 units of power within an hour if I decide to use half of my electrical appliances. On the average (despite turning off many appliances), I use 20-30 units per day! One of my Oga spends at least 600k for electricity per month. This is just AEDC ooo... He has Solar and Diesel Generator. Add fuel to the mix, and his energy bill can hit 800k per month. |
