The difference in how the players of both teams turned out in life is clear.

Only one of our own amounted to something small in football

This is the type of issue we are talking about.

I hear it's both due to how expensive raising children are and women also working more now and being less likely to have kids. I'm sure there are other factors

And it's an actual disaster for these countries.
Even in countries that practice Socialism or something similar like Sweden and Norway the birth rate is still at an all time low so it's not about children being expensive to raise. Those countries are even coming up with incentives like paying families to have more children to curb their population decline. Japan tried that strategie to little benefits.

When they knack you £3k per month for nursery fees for 2 children in UK, your church mind will tell you to hang boot. On top that your wife will lose a years earnings each time. We haven't calculated uni fees, bigger house etc. it is fair to say each child puts a responsibility of £100k to £250k on their parents head (if their parents are middle class working parents and not relying on Govt to take care of their children). It is those without work and on benefits that you see borning 4+ children here. Two is the norm. I and 3 of my siblings all have 2 each with no exceptions. My brother in-law an Ogoni man born 2 girls with my sister, when I asked him if he won't go for boy, that's when he became a feminist saying each of his girls is worth 2 boys each grin grin
grin grin

Omo tha last line is too funny.

If you want to be a hands on quality parent involved in the lives of your children, you can't have too many.

My brother-in-law in Limerick is facing the bolded. The wife had to stop working immediately her pregnancy got to advance stage and she's been home taking care of the baby after delivery till now(3 months After). Unlike Naija where u can drop ur child with either ur mother , mother-in-law, daycare or younger sister and go to work, they said over there u are on your own.

Like u said she's most likely going to lose at least one year earning while her hubby will be the only one providing for the family from his earnings throughout duration of when the child will grow a little.

I dey always like this kind thing grin. I like how nature dey always 4ck with people like him who would note be grateful for having kids irrespective of gender and instead they will be looking for wetin no lost all in the name of trying to give birth to a specific gender.

When some people are looking for just one child after years of marriage to no avail, some yeye people will be saying they must born boy like say girl child is lesser of a child than a boy child

In this modern age, a girl child is better than a boy sef, less stress and less wahala especially in abroad society where girls are achieving academically and many boys are wannabe gangsters. I even forgot to add that one of his twin sisters already had twins so he should have known the risk was there grin

I mentioned this some weeks back on this same thread. Looks like the boys have given up

raumdeuter:
For people here living in Nigeria, Did you notice maybe a lack of ambitions or less drive among GenZ male compared to the female

I have been noticing it more and more in the US that the girls are doing better and the guys are acting like they have given up. I have a few people(Naija parents) who have told me to be talking to their boys as they are not driven at all and don't just want to do anything. Just sit at home and wait to be fed

The college enrollment for girls is higher, college completion is higher or girls. At the end of the day this wont be healthy for the society IMO

Effective from September 1, the official cost of the 32-page passport will be N100,000, while that of the 64-page passport will cost N200,000

Which kain passport go cost pass minimum wage?🙆🏽‍♂️

The review which only affect Passport Application fees made in Nigeria, now set a new fee thresholds for 32-page with 5-year validity at N100,000 and 64-page with 10-year validity at N200,000.

3. Meanwhile, Nigerian Passport Application fees made by Nigerians in diaspora remain unchanged at $150 for 32-page with 5-year validity and $230 for 64-page with 10-year validity
.
The increase only applies to local applications, and I find that strange cos the exchange rate has been stable for a while.

The fact that the application fee is higher than the national minimum wage says a lot about how poor salaries and incomes are in the country.

No be na wa, na real wa.

When e reach to tax, they will be very efficient. But when e reach to review workers salary, na meeting upon meeting, agreement upon agreement, debate upon debate, two workers strike, and three called off warning strikes.

What number is too many to achieve that? I have seen examples of parents with one child and they are terrible parents while others with 3 to 4 are well behaved and well mannered. At the end of the day it's all about the level of commitment.

The level of achievement some parents would demand from their male child won't be the same for the female. The female may be doing the bare minimum and the parents would see it as a success unlike the men on the same level.

I tell you, Naija must be the only ‘major’ country (in terms of population and size of economy) where the bolded is the reality 🤦🏽‍♂️

Moreover, the authorities do not care about any pesky exchange rate stability: they just want more money to buy mansions, spend on girlfriends/wives, and spend on vacations

In an average middle class home, they expect any child to get good grades, go to University and get jobs

University enrollment for girls are higher, rate of dropout are lower

And the gals are generally outperforming the guys academically.

I invigilated a 200L exam yesterday. The venue I managed was specifically for 400L carryover students of a particular department. Out of the 22 students that wrote the exam, 19 were males while 3 were females.

I asked their course rep if they had more boys than girls, and he said their class has 65 students, comprising of 31 girls and 34 boys.

So,
Out of 31 girls, 28 passed and 3 failed.
Out of 34 boys, 15 passed and 19 failed.

Staggering failure from by the boys

This thread made me laugh. The guy said he walks 2km per day and is worried the trekking will affect him in old age.

How Nigerians consider 2km trekking always makes me laugh. 4km trekking (10,000 steps) is the recommended daily steps and most people I know here cover that everyday and even up to 6km

The other day when Iamoyindamola said he trekked during cash scarcity and almost passed out, I checked the distance he trekked and was laughing.

I try to hit an average of 15k steps daily which usually comes to a distance of 10km. This is how far I've gone this month.
