It has become necessary at this time. Same thing should be done in benue state .
This is one thing I love about fulani.leaders. if Fulani lives are under threat, Fulani leaders at all level don't don't care about breaking Nigerian laws to protect Fulani interest. Unlike Igbo, Yoruba and other minority group leaders. Imagine the man sharing gun without caring if tinubu could send DSS after him

If this is true, he should be arrested for supporting crime and terrorism. Imagine sharing guns in this tough economy.
He should be immortalised instead by having the road leading to buhari Katsina home named after him for being more pragmatic than buhari

A rep member representing Funtua constituency in Katsina state, empowered his constituents with guns to protect themselves from bandits.

We just wish that these people don't out of anger turn the guns against each other if small face off happen among the community people.

@General Ditari.
Show a valid link to your claim because , if true, then the action of the rep is illegal and he should be arrested for breaching Nigeria's gun laws.

If true, his action is madness not pragmatism. Guns in all hands is a recipe for disaster. That is what is destroying the SE and the North today with those provided with gun now using it to rob, extort, kidnap, rape, settle scores, target opponents etc.

What Nigerians should do is lobby the government more aggressively for State/regional policing etc.

The way to go is the British model where policing is so effective that policemen do not carry guns. Unlike USA that arms all citizens leading to multiple psycho school shootings yearly, domestic violence deaths and gang wars with countless homicides etal.

And you said that the man who renamed this country a zoo should not be rewarded,
Are you no longer an advocate of every body should be allowed to carry a gun like United States of America so that we will become more civilize like them?!

These guns are necessary but not effective against marauders

I support this

Don't just say defend yourself

These are the tools to defend oneself

The only issue is hoping that these guns would be used for what it is intended for

This is what Benue youths need

Israel and south Africa have their citizens armed but witness less internal murders than Nigeria where citizens are not armed. In the past when everyone had a cultlass, no one robbed using cultlass because it was something your potential target has and any attempt to attack will be at 50/50 chance - you die or dey die. Bandits are successful 100% because the masses are not armed. Beside, every outlaw, cultist, armed robber, political thug, strret fighter in Nigeria already has a gun. Nigeria cannot have british policing because there is no border security. It is only the mentality hale /normal/ patriotic/ law keeping people in Nigeria right now that do not already have guns. So the worse has already happened. Beside, the kind of abuse of guns which you fear cannot be stopped by absence of guns. Anybody can kill over trivial issues by using knives, battle ass, cultlass, poison, etc. infact, many already kill using such. So let the gun be shared

Wise people understand the need to think for today and the future. That quality prevents them making rash and very costly decisions.

Kanu pleaded, at an Igbo conference overseas, for gun to fight Fulani menace. His argument was similar to yours.

He got his guns and gave them to ordinary Igbos with no psychiatric or security evaluation. How has that worked out for the SE today?

So many examples of what not to do yet we never learn in Nigeria as an emotional people.
