The said adult is a married woman to another officer and was involved in a sexual relationship with another officer which is against the code of conduct of the military like it was rightly stated in the news….if they were both single it would have been a different case. You might have a different law btw civilians but in the Navy, it is different.

Back to the issue, I think the law criminalizes infidelity because it is spiteful and spite could lead to violence and breakdown of law and order...not because it doesn't recognise that the act itself was consensual, but in law, humiliation is a crime... 1. A legally married woman does NOT have a consent of her own, especially when s*x with another is involved. get that into your head.

Making sexual gestures at a married woman persistently with the knowledge she is married is an offence.. . Having intimate relationship with a married woman you also liable to pay damages......stay away from married women,they are a bag of trouble,if she loves you so much she can divorce her husband to come be with you.

Not in southern Nigeria,it's criminal in the north but it's not in the south,it will be treated as a civil matter and what you get is payment for damages.....so you will actually pay damages for sleeping with someone's wife whether knowingly or unknowingly.

Legally married means going to the registry and binding the union by Nigerian laws. Is the law up north different from the one down south?

Except for shariah law that’s different, marriage laws in Nigeria are same in north and south.
