Community leaders and bandits in Kurfi Local Government Area of Katsina State, on Thursday signed a peace agreement, marking a significant step towards ending years of violence, kidnapping and cattle rustling in the region.

The agreement, brokered by the Maradin Katsina and district head of Kurfi, Alhaji Mansur Amadu Kurfi, and the local government chairman, Babangida Abdullahi Kurfi, took place at Wurma forest, a hotspot for insecurity.

Key leaders of the bandits, including Alhaji Usman Kachalla Ruga, Sani Muhindinge, Yahaya Sani (Hayyu) and Alhaji Shu’aibu, pledged to cease hostilities, release captives and allow farmers to return to their lands without fear.

The community leaders, in turn promised to work with the bandits to rehabilitate schools and hospitals and ensure fair treatment of detained members.

Look at the audacity!!! And this is not the first time and won't be the last. The cycle continues.

What is the next step? To give them army forms? Nigeria is a terrorist sympathizing country. Spits.

Can't you see the Nigerian soldier has igbo/MJ in his hand. He was probably a repentant terrorist and repatriated into the Nigerian Army. This is why you see some people say Army is aiding them. Few days ago, Deutsche Welle , German media giant (DW), did a very powerful documentary on the bandits , by going into their enclaves, deep inside mountains and hills and bushes with some villages around, making interviews with their leaders. They were all using smartphones, talking to themselves in groups without covering their faces,( except their main leaders who refused to talk to camera because he claimed he was camera shy, and dedicated another leaders to talk to them. What I thought was that, this guy must be a politician hiding his face.


Children as young as 13 years old with guns even as confirmed by the interviewer. One will now wonder, what makes all these rag tags so powerful and difficult for our forces to overcome? Sabotage!.
Why can't they attacked the journalists interviewing them but if our media firms try to do that, he may not come back alive.

I'm not sure .... were these damaged and looted by the bandits? .... or the neglect of them was a root cause of the banditry? I want to believe that the community leaders were pocketing money for community development and this has lead to banditry that got out of control. Now that they have reached a peace deal .... how will the bandits get income and maintain their lifestyle? I can't see this going on for th long run.
