In 2 Years: Lagos Gets N3.9trn Projects

Findings by Daily Trust revealed that during the period under review, FEC approved projects worth N5.97trn for the South West, N2.41trn for the South South, N407.49bn for the South East, N1.15trn for the North Central (including Abuja),

The post by Senator Dino Melaye highlights a Daily Trust report showing Lagos received N3.9 trillion in Federal Executive Council (FEC) project approvals over two years, part of a N13.5 trillion national allocation, reflecting Lagos's economic dominance as it contributes nearly 40% of Nigeria's VAT revenue according to the National Bureau of Statistics 2024 data.

Regional disparities in funding, with the South West (including Lagos) getting N5.97 trillion and the North East only N403.98 billion, align with historical infrastructure trends; a 2013 IFRA-Nigeria study on Lagos infrastructure notes its colonial-era role as a commercial hub shaped decades of uneven development.
Criticism in replies, questioning revenue distribution fairness, mirrors a 2022 World Bank report on Nigeria's fiscal federalism, which found that resource-rich states often receive less relative to contributions, fueling debates on equitable governance.

This o e no dey work again
Don't mind the Joker. Does he live in the Kogi him and other reprobate leaders of the state failed to develop?

They all run to Lagos and Abuja that are the two sanest and most developed States in Nigeria. In the case of Lagos, we have the considerable burden of hosting 10% (23 million Nigerians) of the entire population of Nigeria in the smallest state of our nation.

Yet they want to use the real needs of Lagos to play politics. Like you concluded "e no dey work again". Nigerians are wiser.

They know the likes of Melaye are failures while Lagos is an overburdened victim of her own success under successively efficient management, since 1999, by talented and driven leaders/Governors.
