ambale:I think the bottom line and again it is something that I preach all the time. Educated people are not representative of Nigeria and that’s where we make our first and most crucial mistake. The second mistake is that in our collective arrogance we think our aspirations should also be the aspirations of the man in the village. We say the politicians weaponize poverty, maybe but the reality is the man in the village doesn’t care about the issues the educated city dweller cares about. The village man is not interested in Exchange rate, whether PH refinery is working or not, whether a governor has convoy or not, whether Tinubu bought jet or not. Most of them have never seen arise TV or channels. His life is governed by simple things, borehole, farm inputs, rural roads, schools and medical care. The quicker the educated city dweller starts to understand how the village or rural people think and what matters to them the quicker we get of our high horses and understand the future of this country. Like it or not these people are 80% of the electorate and determine you future. Politicians know this basic fact that seems to elude the city people with all their education.. EducTed people should also understand what democracy is. It is government by the majority. We are not the majority! We are the minority, we will have our say but the majority will have their way. The folly of the educated Nigerian is that he advocates for democracy because he wants to be like the white man, yet he leaves the majority in the villages without guidance and then starts to argue and speak English in the city. I was having a discussion with someone on Nairaland the other day and I suggested that educated people should start to reconnect with their villages and even vote there….he was arguing with me. Firstly because as an educated person they would have influence on the voters in the village because you will be seen as a role model. Secondly, educated voters don’t make any difference to the votes in the cities and thirdly, about 90 of the 109 senators for example are voted in by largely uneducated villagers because all the educated indigenes from those villages don’t reside, visit or vote their and hence have no influence on their townspeople. |

stainzvill:No governor nor president conducts election. It is the state, or national electoral commission that conducts election depending on the office(s). Regardless of what People think, Rivers state is becoming more peaceful than ever before. I am in Rivers state. Wike is highly respected and admired. Yesterday's election was obviously ignored by many. The whole situation is circumstantial and won't linger beyond this season. Fubara accepted all of Wike's malicious help in the first place. He is not innocent. Both slugged it out and Wike won it. Fubara's control of Rivers state as the people's governor is ideal and right, but he made it there through a System that is more powerful and for the people's sake, more benficial. |

AMINDA: But you can but fear and authority 70% is still an A With Fubara and his men abstaining from yesterday's election, the peace between Wike and Fubara is akin to that of a graveyard. Tinubu still has his work cut out for him in the Southsouth. |

destinychildolu:You talk like a kid. Fubara that can't deliver a single LGA Chairman for himself is the one you are expecting to spoil Tinubu's chances. Someone whose impeachment was stopped by the President. Have you seen the terms of the agreement Fubara signed? Guy, if not for Tinubu, Fubara would have been impeached. Fubara said it himself. That's why Wike was angry with the State of Emergency declaration by Tinubu. |

stainzvill:Is there any law that says he cannot? Try and get to read the powers conferred on him by PBAT when he was made sole administrator. It's within his limits. Anyone not in support should take the National Assembly to court for letting PBAT do such. Even that statement made by VP Shettima about the the President doesn't have the powers to suspend a State governor is somewhat controversial.......Reason.... Whatever happened in Borno State when Shettima was State Governor during PGEJ administration is completely different from the issues that occured in Rivers State. The case of Rivers State has a State Governor having two different State Assembly headed by two different speakers. Those on the side of the Fubara are just four members including his Speaker as recognize him. Those against him are seventeen including the Speaker. So with this we have to be told which of the houses/gatherings is the legitimate for passing of budgets and screening of commissioners nominees to be appointed and others which falls under the purview of the State Assembly. The courts has done justice to that and the rest is history. |

Are you suggesting we all go to our state of nature since your lord and personal savior and his masters does same? Can you and your co-travellers work with a document as simple as the grandnorm(constitution) where it gallantly empowers the president to "suspend" all elected officials In a state? If that is an ideology in politics then you are not better than the first men. Softmirror: |

Who broke the assembly with a televised defection only for the nicompoos to retract and seek cover from a controlled judiciary? Your analysis are very short of secondary school or the highest an OND background.... bixton: |

When people are calling Ambode names because he didn't fight Tinubu and clapping for Obaseki for his episode with Oshiomhole, I was just shaking my head! They are two distinct scenario that looked alike. Even this one is still a total scenario. Nigeria is evolving, and one thing is sure; people can hardly has the power these two wield together again. Because other people are learning. |
