Honestly, Eze deserved to start this game.

Also, why did Arteta wait till 70-80 minutes to make his sub.

Honestly, today Arteta got his tactics wrong.

Me sha! One of my guy dey give me the excuse that Arteta need time for the new incoming/signings to click. 🤣

I know say the guy Dey play, he deliberately want trigger me, because he knows I will not tolerate any excuse from Arteta again.😂

That tackle by Zubi was disappointing, it led to the goal. He should have allowed the player to, there was no need to challenge the ball.

Lol. Cornerkick FC grin

Arsenal betrayed me when they were 8 points ahead but lost the title to Fraudchester City.since then, I prefer either that Liverpool or Chelsea wins the title.

I can’t wait to start reading, it is only the 3rd game and we are overreacting to a loss against a contender.

Positives...

1. Mosquera is a gem. We struck gold with that boy.
2. Calafiori really impressed. He kept Salah at bay for some time.
You gerrit
Those two really impressed Me

I don't understand
Why is he defending, he packed attackers on bench to be running after the game
Mosquera was great and Madueke was bright today, we lost to a wonder strike...

The Athletic wrote this on his tactics which was plausible;

- Mikel Arteta’s intentions for the game were clear with his starting lineup: be physically competitive for as long as possible and then get the match-winners on.

The 70-minute mark is when Arteta felt the time was right, but it arguably may have been when Liverpool’s disallowed goal went in on the hour-mark.

The game was open enough for Arsenal to take hold of with more technical, forward-thinking midfielders, but neither Eberechi Eze or Martin Odegaard had much time before Szoboszlai’s free kick. They combined nicely once between coming on and Arsenal going behind, but the game wasn’t under control.

What will hurt even more for Arsenal is that, like last season, they are now in a position where they will need to play catch up with Liverpool. Even if it is early in the season, the need to make up ground will be felt moving forward.

Starting three Defensive Midfielders in a match, no creativity whatsoever come join Nelli behind your striker🙆‍♂️ Arteta dey pami

Who will feed the striker?

Omor!!... no excuses, Arteta got it wrong today. From the xl to tactics. Instead of playing a free flow football with creative players we came to fight. Man saw the change in game plan when mac Allister was subbed but still held on to Merino and physicality that is not working. Arteta just dey make hard for himself and every fan.
I know sacking him no dey for discussion table for now, but I hope we bounce back shaa. Season still dey fresh
Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by daveP(m): 7:53pm On Aug 31, 2025
Arteta messed up with this passive Approach. Rice should be threatening that Liverpool backline enough but he was deepest midfielder today, playing from CB and LB.

I'm done with Martinelli. That guy has forgotten he now has a 9. He also doesn't know what to do with the ball again. His defending is not going to absolve him from the rubbish he dropped today and why he was on that long 😑😑😑😑😑😑

Szobo is the RB for heaven's sake mehn. 😫😫
Yet he got the winner.

It reminded me that we don't even get such freekicks in the EPL again. I pitied Gyokores. The guys behind him forgot their primary duty was to feed him but na pressing dem sabi. How can we have that midfield and can't even utilize it? 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️

Can we just snatch this Lookman deal abi is it over or what? What a stale loss. All down to Arteta's approach. Calafiori did well.
Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by iamoyindamola(m): 7:59pm On Aug 31, 2025
No matter how this fraud twist it, starting merino is wrong because lfc can't offer the same physical presence as our midfield
The most physical team is Newcastle and we always start AM against them, he's started his stupidity again this season.

Arteta already blaming and throwing Eberechi Eze under the bus.

Nothing new here! We have seen this over and over again.

Arteta: “You have to put the ball in the back of the net. We were much better than last year when we drew the game. Today we have 3, 4, 5 situations inside the box 1v1. Eze is completely through just to finish the action. You have to put the ball in the net if you want to win.”

The loss is frustrating, but we're acting like we just lost a title decider. We were not as bad as people are making it look(though i still believe Arteta fuccked up). We lost against a great team(league holders) that we haven't won at their back yard since 2012 but somehow it's the decider for arsenal to sack their coach.
Bad result indeed but make I wait till we loose to a smaller team to see more lamentations. Or are we going unbeaten after today. grin

As I see that lineup, I just lose hope. I had to stay back at home.
Oya, we escape first half, bring in Eze and Odegaard.. Iro ni o.. He had to wait till 70th minute.

Our back four is already strong.. Like very strong, wetin you need 3 DMs for ffs

I said he’s playing for a smash and grab in the match but looserpool shocked him

The fact that no creativity whatsoever in the middle to the final third just weakened Me

nothing like throwing anyone under the bus, that was a light touch on Eze. And the ball that Timber held on to for long after cancelling out Liverpool players before passing was also an opportunity to score. We can blame the coach, but not seeing the difference players could have made is another thing.

We have the tools to break down any team yet we are still playing haram football, what are we doing with 7 defenders (4 defenders and 3 DMs) in a match
How can anyone who knows our history with arteta have confidence in him

Bro... There's one prayer I always say. That I would never be at the mercy of human being like me. A single mistake against Villa made us lose the title to City. We're now praying for Spurs to do magic. Like our fate now lies in the hand of the other teams. Remember?

That's why this loss is unacceptable. If Arteta got sacked because of today's match, e worth am.

When has this man and his fans ever taken responsibility for any of his failures? Some will come here and start off blaming him but give it a few hours/ day, they would start defending the rubbish we just saw.

Why single out Eze? I would have had no issues if he said we failed to convert but singling out a player? What did Martinelli do all game? How about Zubi and the senseless decision to tackle after he got beat? Where are these clear cut chances? How many were they?

first half we played better but didn't finish off well. Second half he wasted time to bring in a change in the gameplan and a single moment of brilliance just like that of Rice against Madrid made the difference. We will be back(even if i am the only one that believes that). No single team is going to play unbeaten, none!!. It's left to see which team beats us and how we lost.

everyone can't have the same opinion, and everyone can't see things from the same perspective. When I saw the line up, I knew it was going to be a hard time scoring, but none the less we were not that bad. Coach made a mistake, oya wetin make they ones that got a chance to waste it, coach too?.

Why cautious, you’ve got the best defensive set up in the league, cause I don’t understand why we’re playing with 7 defensive minded players on the pitch today

We could’ve won the match from first half of there was creativity whatsoever in the middle

I said it here throughout the game. His plan was a smash and grab and it was working until Liverpool scored. I have gotten to the point where I know what to expect from Arteta. I only ask for the 3 points as that is the most important, especially since he will never change.

I don’t know why Martinelli was sold cause lad isn’t productive any longer
Singling out your new player for the team loss can down his confidence- a player that’s eager to play with you.. that’s unprofessional coming from a supposed manager

Na this season him get, no excuse

baba, I won't say i don't get your point, you have been open about Arteta and your thoughts about him for long now. It pains to lose but no matter how much we complain about this match, it will not be a benchmark to sack him. His decision didn't work, same as Liverpool in the first half and majority of the game till and after that magic by szoboszlia.
