The local government election conducted by the occupation government in Rivers State is an awful absurdity and a travesty to the very notion of elective democracy.

By the shameful and shambolic manner in which the occupation government went ahead to conduct local government elections in RiversState, it is clear that the ruling APC party is not leaving anyone in doubt that it is prepared to throw caution to the wind in order to achieve an inordinate political advantage.

It therefore becomes necessary to call the attention of well-meaning Nigerians. international community and all friends and partners of Nigeria to the dangerous curve that the President Bola Tinubu regime is taking our dear country.

I will also call on all opposition parties in Rivers State to reject the local government election on the premise that the occupation government that conducted the exercise is extraneous to our laws, with absolutely no legitimacy to undertake such a crucial and sensitive assignment.

In the same breath, I wish to share my unflinching solidarity with the good people of Rivers State, who are currently victims of political brigandry to a power cabal which is bent on overturning their democratic rights at all cost. -AA

At least in Wike and Tinubu’s type of Democracy, local government elections are conducted with different parties winning election. In Peter Obi’s democracy, local government election are only conducted two months to the end of an 8 years tenure with only one party winning all contested positions.


Should we also talk about how Atiku led the shameless rigging of the 2003 general election? Somethings, I just wish I have the power to move the comments of some of you obidients to the jokes section because that’s where they honestly belong.

This whataboutism is a lazy approach to the issues raised. Let concede that all what you said is true does it then mean that the current APC goverment should continue with lawlessness because people in the past did it? the annoying thing is the president while using public resource is moving around the globe telling foriegners to come invest in the country. do this people really think Any right thinking foreign investor who is not into something shady who sees how the judiciary has been almost completely bastardized, lack of due process, rules are arbitrary, regulatory risk, state capture etc would come with his hard earned money? the supreme court should have decided on the matter on the legality of the suspension of the governor long ago and by now cases about the conduct of the local goverment elctions by people appionted by the sole administrator should have reached and be decided by the supreme court.

Putting an interim non elected one, approving local elections done by unelected appointed interim governor. Plenty words with no substance. What exactly is your point? Elections were held and winners emerged. So, what exactly is the problem? Has any of the losers come out to complain that they were rigged out or what? Even if that is the case, has any court found anything wrong with the election? Is there any local government election in recent years that was better than that of Rivers? Did Peter Obi as a governor conduct a better election?

So, why exactly are you guys crying so much about this Rivers State local government election? Is it a crime for APC to win election?
