Peter Obi said that if APC was a serious party, they'd have fielded Osinbajo instead of Tinubu as their candidate.

You have a big comprehension problem.
You should tell your neighbour to help you read the text you quoted.

BTW, in the United States, where we copied federation from, the VP is the senate president. That way, the person can have something to do in office and not wait for the president to assign him/her tasks.
cheesy My dear friend, which part of your empty statement did I supposedly misunderstand? Well I showed my neighbour o, and he said you are an empty fellow (which I quarrelled with him over), and asked me why I am wasting time arguing with you. Well, I am here for the youth, so I don't mind.

As to the reasonable part of your post, the VP in Nigeria also holds statutory offices. He presides over the NEC. In terms of acting as a counter-balance to an ineffective president, is that not much more relevant than presiding over lawmakers?

You are reasoning like an Obidient….dull! Practitioners of Politics are called politicians and subject matter specialists are called technocrats. Technocrats occupy office, politicians have power. If you occupy office and are not a politician, those with power will consume you.

The problem with technocrats if they get to power and behave like technocrats and they ultimately get consumed by politics thinking they have power they don’t really have because they occupy an office. Examples abound, Osinbajo, ElRufai etc. they function in their specialist subject area under the cover of a powerful politician. Leave them to their own devices and they destroy themselves because they don’t understand politics.

Now tell me again was Osinbajo ever made acting president after that incident? Were his powers not curtailed after that incident including withdrawal and reassignment of his staff? He was saved by Buhari because he didn’t know his limits and he didn’t know his limits because he is not a politician.

to spill which beans? After whining and dining with the devil you want to spill the beans, you don't know that Nigerian politicians are answerable to Lucifer himself. Tell Fubara to resign and spill the beans about the shenanigans they did in the last general election in Rivers state and see if he won't pay with his llfe. These wicked rulers derive joy in seeing the masses bleed and suffer and yet some people are out to defend them, you think it's with clear eyes?

There was just little or nothing he could do if he isn't in the very centre of the chair..which is being the President Gangan
Then what stopped him from resigning?

Nigeria is not a country you handle with kid gloves. These people that parade themselves as human rights advocates will destroy your government if not well handled. A person like Obi will definitely have it difficult to control a complex country as Nigeria because he can be easily controlled and doesn't have the mind of his own. He may have good intention but when you cant take your stand as a leader but can easily be influenced by people, you will fail. If Tinubu had delayed with the issue of subsidy and had to engage labour leaders and other stakeholders, I'm very sure they will still be foot-dragging on it and will not materialise. If Goodluck Jonathan had taken his stand to remove subsidy despite protest from opposition, maybe today people would have gotten used to it and things could have been better.
You are a true Nigerian.

Osinbajo would have been a mediocre president. Speaking English up and down but ultimately achieving nothing. The president Nigeria needed in 2023 and in 2027, is more than anything a man with the political capital to press forward necessary but painful reforms. Osinbajo would have been sabotaged and blocked.
maybe you enjoy pain and hardship, that's not the way to grow it is a lie from the pit of hell to deceive the unthinking mass of people, this line has been used by many wicked and clueless leaders like the current one in the past but never achieved anything except buying them time

As much as I do not like to admit it...you're the onr of the few persons who have intepreted this matter correctly. If you dont understand politics properly... your technocratic brilliance will be made mess of, by politicians. Because matters that seem direct to you and should be handled directly, will end up being handled in a way that doesn't make sense by politicians and you'd be enraged, not knowing there's more to the issue l, than what you are seeing. Thats how politicians behave, in webs.

I wish Osibanjo hadn't been a Tinubu boy, because since he is, he can never hope to be contest against Tinubu for anything. They will rubbish him. The best he could have done at that time, would have been to plant a mole that wld have exposed all the shenanigans in that election. Which wld help Obi win.

Only in someone like Obi's cabinet could he have hoped to be considered reasonable.

His next best choice now, wld be to look for 5_8 persons he can very quietly support for senate and rep...while he seats back in the shadows as their backer and use them to forment trouble.

Osinbajo would have strengthen institutions and made rule of law sacrosanct.
Did u witness the turnaround that happened when he was acting president?
The DSS chief was sacked, he brought in someone from bayelsa who was due for that position, the man made necessary institutional changes untill the bullard dullard cane back and returned everything back to status quo.
If Buhari had made Osinbajo the flag bearer, i would have supported him against PO n AA.

The constitution only made provision for the position of VP incase the president dies,is incapacitated or impeached.
