Here is a simple summary.

Edwin Clark died in February 2025 at age 97. He was a respected Ijaw leader, lawyer, politician, and founder of Edwin Clark University .

He prepared a will in October 2022. It revealed that he left behind billions of naira in banks and diverse properties across Nigeria .

His three wives—Mrs. Elizabeth Kofo Clark, Mrs. Theresa Clark, and Abisola Sodipo-Clark—were not named as beneficiaries .

The will states they were “constructively” divorced, had not lived with him for a long time, and he believed they were “no longer useful to him” .

He named four executors of the will: Dr. C. C. Clark, Mrs. Koshare Clark-Omoudoye, Prof. Victor Esekumemu Clark, and Barr. Andrew A. Bekederemo—all from the late Chief Bekederemo-Ogein family in Kiagbodo, Delta State . Their work will be funded by the estate proceeds .

The beneficiaries are his 15 children. They are the primary inheritors .

He also directed that his nephews and nieces, who are currently supported by him—through funding education or other means—should continue to benefit until they finish tertiary education, or until removed for dishonesty as decided by the executors .

His properties, especially in Kiagbodo, should serve as a family house where all his children can stay when they visit .

He added that any child who fails to visit Kiagbodo for three consecutive years would lose their inheritance rights for three years, unless the child lives outside Nigeria

Men should note this. No matter your grudge with your wive/s once she have even only one child for you, then there is nothing you can do again. Even if u divorce her for 50yrs, child or children will always bring her back. Check it anywhere.

From my experience, that term 'entitlement mentality' always rears its ugly head when the man suddenly starts doing well and feels the wife is now feeding fat off him.

The same wife who stood by you through thick and thin during the early years of the marriage when life wasn't so rosy, is now seen as not bringing enough to the table or in this current case 'no longer useful'. What an insult.

My advocacy remains that women should learn from other's experiences and grow as the men grow otherwise you will outlive your worth and 'usefulness' and be a burden to everyone around you.

He handed over to estate managers and the benefits will be going t all listed family members... So no member of the family has any property personally

The reason, it is stated in the Will, is simply because they had been “constructively” divorced and did not live with him for a long time before his death – he had reportedly sent them away when he discovered that “they were no longer useful to him.”
