How is this a misplaced priority? Do you want sec offenders and other violent criminals to be having easy access to minors? This is an excellent idea and only criminals.amd ex convicts won't want it implemented
How many have you seen having access to minors, they left the looters that is causing havoc to this country, this the best they can think of when millions of dollars are looted out of the country daily and here you are praising them

You should also do same for politicians

Budget for screening teachers' background should be deployed to their welfare first.

This one does not know that police have criminal databases stored digitally in developed countries. In fact some third world countries like have this system in place.

How am I expected to know when there are no known records of a person's criminal history? So because looters have not been caught, convicted pedophiles should be allowed easy access to minors? Make it make sense! So in the next 700 years, if looting have not been contained, ex convicts should be free to mingle with our children? Its very obvious you're NOT a parent.

I can see that the minister has nothing serious to do.
Characters are needed.
Re: FG Introduces Nationwide Criminal Record Screening Of Teachers by histemple: 8:15pm On Sep 02, 2025
This country do not have any database for crime.

In other countries, once you are arrested by the police, they will enter it into your social number.

But in Nigeria, no such record of past criminal involvement is kept anywhere.

I visited a police station to have an extract of a robbery report I made a week earlier for insurance purposes. To my surprise, a female constable typed the report for me from their police log with hunch back computer.
Our police stations are under funded. Bashing them for collecting money before they render any service is unfair sometimes.

SmartPolician:
The last time I visited a police station, I didn't see a computer. Does it mean we have an analogue police?

Nigeria Police should have a database (like WAEC) where people can buy scratch cards to get the criminal records of all Nigerians, including the president's.

In fact, there should be interministerial collaborations among the judiciary, interior, defence and police affairs to maintain the database of all Nigerians who have a criminal past.

It’s useless looking for such offenders among those who aren’t even teachers.

Their improvement in life and career is the most important thing.

Asides that, it’s a misplaced priority

Nigeria leaders hijacked all the country wealth inside their personal pocket.

Can you imagine in our sport sector in this country, we can boast of a digital board in our stadium, while kenya that Nigeria is bigger than, has a good stadium with digital board.

Digital board is that long-lining placards around the pitch, close to the throwing line.

Only this observation made me to lose hope in this country!

Your past do matters in relationship, but its not enough fact to use it to analyse one's present character or intelligence.

Re: FG Introduces Nationwide Criminal Record Screening Of Teachers by CJStarz: 8:57pm On Sep 02, 2025
Majority of teachers in Private schools are into that because of lack of employment in the country. Some of them are koee intelligent and can even teach better than those that did 'education'. This effort by the government aimed at screening them out as 'unqualified' is nothing but rubbing salt into injury.

If only FG had introduced criminal record screening for politicians...

At least 1 state governor, 2 top cabinet members and the President wont be in the position they are in today.

Lets screen criminals

Comment with proof, don't comment based on what you heard, how many ex convicts have you seen having access to minors. Beside, hardly do you see ex convicts going into teaching rather they become celebrated politicians eg Orji Kalu. Let us be honest to ourselves, this is pure misplaced priority

Leadership by example...When will they start screening politicians with criminal records?
Re: FG Introduces Nationwide Criminal Record Screening Of Teachers by addexx: 3:52am On Sep 03, 2025
On top peanuts wey Dem dey collect. Sometimes I wonder if teachers ever offended Nigeria. I wonder what they did to our founding fathers. People who are supposed to be the most celebrated as the real bedrock of our nation are treated worse than scums. How many senators we screened for criminal records cheesy.

You just want to be on opposite side of every development. If you have 5 problems and solved one you are left with 4. In Western world you cannot enter a school class without criminal record check. This is a good step
No brother I am not one of those pained by every good news that happens in this country. This administration has taken many admirable strides. But one major issue..maybe even THE main issue of Nigeria is when so many of the people meant to catch criminals are the criminals themselves. So i feel police must be screened and purged First Otherwise who will arrest the teachers found wanting without being influenced by bribes. I agree with you its a good step
