The Presidency has tackled the African Democratic Congress, ADC, coalition leaders, Atiku Abubakar, El-Rufai, and Peter Obi over reports that Chinese traders now collect naira cards during transactions.

President Bola Tinubu’s spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, noted that the development indicates that the US dollar is no longer the ultimate king.

But, according to him, Atiku and Obi won’t celebrate the feat.

Posting on X, Onanuga wrote: “This is a salutary development for the Nigerian economy. The Tinubu reforms are making foreigners have faith in the Naira.

“The Almighty US dollar is not the ultimate king here. The Naira is waxing stronger as an international means of exchange. I also buy some items on Chinese platforms.

“I can confirm that they accept Naira cards. El-Rufai, veteran runner Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi will never celebrate this development.

“They are waiting for disasters to vent their political frustration on President Tinubu.”

Until he brings it back to where Tinubu meet the exchange rate. The Self-acclaimed stability gains by unstable government policies is useless until proven factually otherwise.

Using inflation has illustration.

You meet inflation rate at 10%
You came to power and carried it to 30%
And you made sure the inflation rate does not go below 20% and doesn't supercede the 30% mark, so we should praise you for what exactly?
Reducing inflation?, making inflation stable? or raising inflation?

This was an agreement Nigeria and China signed during Buhari's first term in office. Unfortunately, the Americans were able to arm twist officials under Buhari to frustrate the policy.
If onanuga or indeed any Tinubu supporter wants to give credit to Tinubu for this, let them provide evidence to that effect. Where is the bilateral agreement Tinubu signed with China to make this possible?

China is doing this now because China, India and Russia have agreed to an end of unipolarism as championed by the US. They will do anything to culture alliances with emergent economies.

Onanuga needs to sit this one out.

Please post the Chinese site sir, and more evidence to back up this claim. Since USD is no longer the ultimate king in Nigeria's foreign exchange, you should have substantial evidence to back this claim

Before Tinubu came to power, with that exchange rate; were your governors able to pay worker salaries without owing? Were there massive infrastructural development then by your state governors without bitter complaint and borrowing?
Now, that the exchange is stable, naira can now begin to gain little by little.

Dollar no longer king keh... As at today, 2nd of Sept, if you want to buy Dollar you will pay between 1600 and 1700+ while you can sell for nothing less than 1500. The selling rate has been hovering between 1500 and 1550 for some months now so what's it to celebrate about huh
