Charly Boy Confesses Struggle With Depression After Bus Stop Saga by Pakute(op): 11:45pm On Sep 02, 2025

Nigerian singer Charles Oputa, aka Charly Boy, has dropped a bombshell that goes beyond the petty gbas gbos over his renamed bus stop.

The 74-year-old entertainer admitted that the whole drama around his bus stop being changed to “Baddo Bus Stop” almost pushed him into depression.

“Life is a bitch, then we die,” Charly Boy began, before revealing how he had to escape Nigeria briefly just to save his sanity.

According to him, he japa’d to Europe to visit his brother, Dr Alban, hoping to recharge and cool off. But even there, the man couldn’t find peace.

He confessed: “I was to spend 3 weeks recharging and rebooting. You can’t imagine, only after 10 days body begin scratch me, like say I forget something for Nigeria, the same environment wey dey give me sleepless nights sometimes. Couldn’t even do 2 weeks complete, I don run come back.”

Despite joking that it felt like “jazz”, the Area Fada got real with his fans.

“Depression na real matter. I was lucky enough to take a break and come back refreshed. But how many people get that kind privilege? Some people no even get where to run to. Dem dey stuck with their pain, smiling on the outside, but bleeding inside.”

He urged Nigerians to stop treating mental health as a weakness or taboo.

“If Area Fada fit admit say sometimes e dey choke, you too no need to pretend. Speak up, breathe, find your way back. Life go still test us, but make we no let am break us.”

The activist wrapped his note with hope: “My people, here’s wishing you a happier month. It shall be well with us.”

Three weeks to recharge abroad because they renamed a bus stop 🤣🤣🤣. And you guys would abuse Tinubu from morning till night every day of the week. Even if he wanted to travel abroad, you would still abuse him that he's going to recharge his battery. But you can't even take one-tenth of what you dish to others.

The northern part of imo state is turning into borno state.

In imo state, about 3 LGAs are almost deserted because of ritûâlists operating under the banner of biàfrã. People no longer travel home to those places, but you're depressed over bus stop in Lagos.

This same issue has made me to see Peter Obi in a different light. I think all politicians are the same. They condemn attacks in the north and hide the ones going on in their homes.

A military couple were butchered in parts on camera, a pregnant woman and her baby were sacrificed, another elder in the community was sacrificed. All sorts of barbarism are happening right now in imo state on camera.

But no prominent igbos are depressed about it. Charly man should go & get fūckēd.

Most men in Nigeria are currently depressed, September is here, schools are resuming and some don't know where to get the resources to register their children for new session and feed the family with the state of the economy in reality and not Govt statistics.
The frustration is real even though some bigots here will still castigate him for speaking up about experience

Same Charlie Boy that failed to pay his house rent for 7 years and this lead to depression for his landlady until she died.

There was never any bus stop named after Charlie boy in Lagos. The bus stop was named Pedro Bus stop and the government changed the name from Pedro bus top to Badoo bus stop.

At no time was Pedro bus stop named Charlie boy. People called it Charlie Boy bus stop because that was the bus stop you will need to alight if you want to enter the street that Charlie boy was living when he lived in Lagos
