The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said that President Bola Tinubu will address 80 per cent of the housing problem facing justices in Nigeria.

Wike, who spoke at the commissioning of a magistrates’ court in Abuja on Tuesday, also announced that the 50 units of duplexes would be handed over to the Federal Capital Territory High Court in July 2026.He explained that while the court would receive 20 units in October 2025, 30 units would be handed over in June 2026.

“And let me assure you, before the end of the first tenure of Mr President, we would have solved 80 per cent of your accommodation problem in terms of housing.

“By October this year, we are going to hand over 20 units of duplexes to the FCT High Court, and by June next year, before the third anniversary of Mr President, we are also handing over 30 units of duplexes to the FCT High Court,” Wike said at the commissioning.

“I have been going around and sometimes when I see where our judges and magistrates sit, it’s very embarrassing and then you still want them to deliver justices quickly. You need to provide a good learning environment, good offices, and good courts for them to be able to do that.

“Sometimes you see our justices are living as tenants and sometimes when they are not able to pay on time, they are at the mercy of the landlords. The landlord can use their cars to block the gates – you have not paid us – that can be embarrassing.

“Even where you are living, you don’t even know where criminals are, sometimes you are leaving with those criminals around, so how do you know, so how do you want to guarantee your life?

“Mr President has said that has to come to a stop and let me assure you that before the end of the first tenure of Mr President, we would have solved 80 percent of your accommodation problems in terms of housing.”

You Wike, you think you are doing somebody. You are doing yourself. All in your empty scull is elections and post-elections era. You don't envisage that one day you will be like Obasanjo or Goodluck who were once powerful. Today they regret certain things they were supposed to do but unfortunately, did not do while in office. The duo aided systematic weakening of opposition parties during their time. Today they are redundant.
You Wike will not be able to hold on to power forever and your redundancy will be worst than that of the duo.

What has all ur gibberish got to do with judges staying in unsecured rented apartments,what as it got to do with judges welfare? You want justice but you don't want to take care of your judges..... legislators have quarters,even soldiers,police etc why not judges ..... everything doesn't have to be based on sentimentalism just because you hate the messenger for no reason other than the fact he doesn't subscribe to your political interest.
