Does this mean they will just check your account with the banks and estimate your earnings before deducting the 20%? Some people don’t have company account and use their personal account for business

By the time you deduct all these taxes from the minimum wage, I wonder what would be left as a take home. This man is just terribly wicked.

Don't be too sure, they already thinking of taxing you for buying solar panels and installing it on your own roof to provide light for yourself. Even though, they will not provide you with efficient power.

Heads or tails they must ask for blood in tax. And some Nepotistic elements think we should jump up, rejoice and vote the glorified pickpocketer into government again in 2027.

Kolewerk..

I don't think import duty for solar panels is currently at zero naira.

Summary:
From January 2026, Nigerians will face two major tax changes under the Harmonized Tax Act signed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. A new 5% surcharge will be added to petrol and diesel to fund clean energy projects, while anyone earning above ₦800,000 annually — whether in formal jobs or informal trades — will now be required to pay personal income tax. The FIRS will work with banks to automate deductions, making tax evasion harder. Tinubu says the move aims to widen Nigeria’s tax base, reduce reliance on oil, and fund public services, but many Nigerians fear it will worsen the rising cost of living.
so through taxing poor Nigerians he wants to reduce povertyhuh

If petrol went from N197 to as high as N865 and we didnt die, adding N43 to make it N908 will not kill anybody. At a point, we already bought above N900.

We keep pushing and being creative. Thats why cars on the roads are less. People operate from home and online these days. Stay in your house and save money. At least electricity is better. Instead of profitless going up and down to party where the cost of transporting yourself there is more than the value of the rice you will eat.
Unfortunately it isn't as unidirectional as you've put it. Remember Nigerians are some of the greediest people you can find anywhere, and petrol being the source of the taxeans EVERYTHING will somehow be dragged into it, transportation, food, fees, any mundane thing you can think of will automatically get a price review

Well that's true, but 5% increase ordinarily should bring about any material change.

Tinubu once again dipping his insatiable hands into the pockets of Nigerians.

The only way he knows how to generate revenue is to dip his hands into the pockets of hapless Nigerians and take their monies in the guise of Taxes and levies, while they cry and lament in pains. No other idea.

Oil revenue is no longer enough for the insatiable politicians. They must increase their salaries, buy Prado Jeeps and send their girlfriends to Dubai..

There is no difference between the NURTW thugs intimidating motorists under Oshodi bridge and Tinubu.

Nigerians, this scourge must not go beyond 2027. Insha Allah.

His second tenure (God forbids he gets it) would be worse than hell..
The is just the honest truth .... Tinubu mentality is not different from a Motor park chairman

if you know all kinds of taxes agbero collect daily you will understand Tinubu very well

APC zombies are still keeping calm for now, waiting for copy and paste update on their WhatsApp group. And that update will include how P.O sold fuel at 50k tax per liter in 1995 in Anambra.

Trust me this is the strategy the shameless lots will use and then their senior RENO will do his own.

Tinubu administration has to come to an end before he ends the life of many citizens. He does not care how he generate money. I just dey pity those people saying instead of North Tinubu should continue. Instead of you thinking about your future, your family and friends you are still thinking about North or South.
Just imagine Tinubu second tenure. It will be very disastrous.
Those ones dey vex me, na why tinubu win be that.
We r so driven by parochial bullshits, and today they r still toeing this path.
A better northerner will make things better for everyone, likewise a better southerner but not Tinubu whose mission is to steal, kill n destroy.

You will all be taxed to death!

They tax your earnings

They tax your transfers

They tax your consumption

Now they want to tax the fuel you buy

On your mandate we must stand

Docile mentality like this is Our major setback as a people in this country, for your mind how much is #43 but calculate it on × total comsumption of liters per day

You are just selfishly thinking how much is #43 to your account But you are forgetting the implications on cost generally

Even if money naa water to you .... are you not pained how Tinubu just extort Nigerians and share the money to politicians to sustain the opulence lifestyle. All the money saved from subsidy is Gone what have they use it for that worth the sacrifice now

I agree with you. Tinubu means destruction. The problem is that he does not care. The man is really a brutal man. What do I expect from someone of a drug cartel. Look at what he did in Lagos. He just want to milk everything on his part.
