OP, if you were a child in that situation described, would you have been happy or something? Before you say yes, consider the case of the millions of orphans in Nigeria today who roam the streets every day and night, many of them with living relatives who refuse to take them in.

Not everyone should go around having children because children are not meant to be solutions to problems, not even of the kind you describe.

4. This phenomenon happens to be commonplace all across Nigeria, including in your Iboland. We are talking here of a people whose many cultures and traditions allow them to literally abandon or even disown children for any reason they can come up with. So, I should ask you where you get off insisting that family can't kick children out after the demise of their parents?

I was thinking you will be talking about how a man of 56yrs lived without having a lawyer or a written "will" at age 56. Even some illiterates do have a written "will". It would have been better he willed his property to the orphanages than leave it for $uch a brother.

Having children is not compulsory, one can "will" his/her property to the poor, orphans, churches, etc.

My brother it would have been better that his children wasted the property if he had children that willing to brother or orphanage homes. In Nigeria majority of orphanage homes are business centers and I have proof.

It's possible his relatives who wanted him out saw that as an opportunity to take him out when he went home and utilised it. In any case, an autopsy would determine whether he died due to the cardiovascular event three weeks later, or another cause, which's why it's necessary. Operating based on assumptions that you know the cause of his passing when it hasn't been determined and when the circumstances surrounding it are suspicious, is what's ignorant here. RIP to him.

Misplaced truth.

The scenario you posted should trigger us to make our health and life assurance system work. If the said man was in a system that works, his life assurance fund would take care of everything. A funeral home would arrange everything.

Instead of using such energy to make the system here works, why would you put such energy into baby manufacturing when the population is already getting too high? The misplaced priorities your fathers and grandfathers made are the same you are making. The same lies they told themselves is the same you are sharing among your generation. It is time to start educating you. Get wisdom.

If the system is fixed, there is no need to make your children investments. You give birth to children because you want to be responsible for them, and not that they should be responsible for you at old age. You are obliged to your children, but good to show appreciation to your parents because there is blessing in it.

Let's fix the system here so that issues you have painted above will hardly happen.

Children of nowadays can be totally useless to their parents at old age. Just make sure you have enough money to take care of yourself at old age.

Once I hit between 70 to 75 years, i will sell off all properties in the city. And try to spend most of the cash within 15 to 20 years if still alive.

There is no reason a healthy African adult should not have children. India and China like many other countries copied the Western style and technology but retained their own culture strictly.
