Planning A Trip To Abuja From Lagos By Road: How it went (Details) by Bebetter(op):
Hello People,

So i've been put in a situation where i have to go to the Ministry of Education at Abuja to do some physical evaluation of credentials. Its crazy because i live in Lagos and this is just wild that same activity can't just be done here in Lagos.

Well, i decided to start planning for the trip but the flight prices i saw threw me off... with an average of #200K for the flight and i would still have to lodge somewhere. So i am weighing my options if i should better plan to travel by road! hmmm.

Guys, i need your advice, how safe is it to travel from Lagos to Abuja by bus... how long will it take? and is it worth the stress? or should i just figure out a way to raise the flight money. What do you think?

It:s ok to travel by road, and what you are going for is not done in a hurry or in one day o. before you get to abuja should be around 7-8pm depends how early you left lagos ot maybe less than

When the driver drop you at zuba park, enter another vehicle from there to Nyanya park, get okada to take you to Edit royal hotel in Karu. and it's cheap compare to others in abuja city

Next morning walk to road side and enter vehicle to Secretariat , all ministry are there, wouldn't cost more than 600 naira

This process would save you some money

Go with GUO for 45k, you can book and pay online. The 6am bus leave Lagos and arrive Abuja 6pm. Same with the7am bus you arrive there at 7pm. You will stop 2 to 3 times to eat or stretch your legs. You will not feel like you’re in a bus because it is new model and has entertainment TV to keep you feel relaxing. Please try choose that seat beside the door so that you can have enough leg rooms and can sleep comfortably if you neee to. I think it’s safer now since there are many soldiers and police on the road. Some even hide in the bush names special ops. Good luck

So guys, the D-day is almost here. I eventually went with the GUO transport option. I booked online from Jibowu to Utako. N47500. I also got a friend who recommended a nice hotel at Utako, i've booked some night there as well.

I'll be leaving tomorrow Sunday. The bus is meant to leave by 6:00am from Jibowu and get to Abuja by 7pm. This road trip will be a first for me after a very long time. So i'll keep you guys updated on how the trip goes. cool

Wow people! I'm now in Abuja oh! I first want to thank everyone who contributed on this post, you all did well and made this journey possible!

@kpankpangolo @correctyourself @DUKEOFIBADAN

So people, this is how the journey went. I got to Jibowu (GUO) by 5am and there were already buses getting ready and few people already at the station, i entered into the reception and presented my email booking print-out and was assigned to the first bus set to leave by 5:30am. Thanks to @DUKEOFIBADAN omoh! Na that door seat i pick oh and it made a world of difference because all through the journey, even though the seat was a bit stiff, my legs were very free and i had enough room to move and stretch my feet. The bus was also the modern hiace bus with tinted glass and cool ac.

We actually left at about 5:45am.... to be honest... from lagos to ibadan, to osun was a quick breeze and then ondo... akoko. The driver made the first stop somewhere in ondo at a travelers food stop. I and a couple of passengers used the loo, then went to get food. Wasn't really hungry, just ate a little fufu and egusi with catfish. grin i focused on the fish and left most of the food though. The other passengers who ate rice and stew complained that the pepper was peppering, we spent about 20mins there and left.

Our trip through ondo seemed to stretch for long.... slept for a bit, listened to music. Now one very striking memory through this journey was passing through Lokoja in Kogi. Listen people, as someone who has been in Lagos for way to long now, this place was a beauty of nature to me. I was wowed at the mountains and valleys that sprawled around the landscape of my view. They had these pockets of small small houses with pointed roofs like monopoly houses all around the valleys. And the green mountains towering behind. My guy it was beautiful to me. I kept imagining if this place was developed like south Africa, how tourists would troop there just to experience the scenery.

Though the road we passed seemed to be like the outskirts of the state cause i didnt think we passed through the main city... but just looking around, you would notice that the people staying there were mostly rural and poor and i just wandered and wandered. there were a few check points along the journey, with tired looking police, army, frsc or customs but nothing serious. Fun fact, getting closer to abuja, was the first time i would see NDLEA on the road like at a check point... it was funny to me, i no understand.

Well, we got to abuja at about 6pm. The driver was very experienced, smart but smooth as well. Oga was driving lagos style in other states... he just dey move like say na him get the whole Nigeria. lol. cool My stop was last for the bus, which was at their Utako GUO park, it was already getting dark like 6:30pm. My accommodation was like 3 mins drive from there, but the drop guy insisted on collecting 3k. I just allowed, on jjc level make i just go my hotel go rest.

I had the hotel accommodation on map, and it was more like a 2 min drive. The place comfortable die. I didnt use the hotel you guys recommended though, my guy showed me this one called Aden 360. The place is cool and coded. infact they made an error on my reservation and had to give me a higher room. So guys, i'm here in Abuja like this oh! Tuesday na my appointment. I'm hoping everything gets concluded same day so i can plan my exit make i no go finish my September salary for here. grin

Will keep you guys posted as the week unfolds!

(Didn't use my phone much through the journey to snap cos i was conserving my battery, forgot to take a powerbank).
