The fact is that if you have any of those policies there, most cover your funeral so that when you die, your children doesn't need to pay 1 cent for your funeral. Most people arrange for their funerals before they die. That's a working system.

See this mindset is part of the dwindling population of Japan and other developed nations which they are looking for a way out now.

Your mindset is that which is flawed. I haven't said having children is bad, but I wrote that you should not depend on them as your investment that gives you roi during your old age, and for them to care for you when you are weak. Japan has a good health system too. And their kids don't necessarily carry the whole burden. In most cases, kids visit them in the care homes. And they unite with other families to take care of their old ones. Get this issue clear.

Having kids is necessary, and kids are to look after you when you are old.

The you will keep getting messed up. Rather build your health system. If you keep this mindset, you will be messed up.

Let me explain. When you are rich and can afford to pay $12 - $30 or more per hour for a care to come to your home and do the job, it is fine. It's your money working for you. You are at a liberty to pay for such service. Do you hear me. Most rich people do it. Let's say you so called Uncle had money, instead of those people carrying him about to one herbalist, they would arrange for carer to take over after seeing the doctor. And the so called herbalist was free to visit him at home also. Na poverty and illiteracy dey worry many Nigerians.

So, do not twist my words. Children are blessing, no argumemt. I only wrote that they shouldn't be your investment to cash put during your old age. And they shouldn't be your primary care when you are weak.

If you find a good woman that is focused and ambitious having a skill or career, don't wait till your late thirties before settling down. At most do that by 30 years as a man. If you're waiting for the right time. That right time may not come

I'm 39years doing well for myself with a wife and a one year 2months old daughter. Sometimes I still regret not settling down while I was 30years.

✓ Currently I have a brother from same community who just returned to my village from his maternal home with his sister's. Their parents died when they were tender so their mother's brothers took all of in and train them.
His father's brothers have returned all his father's land to him and he is building his house now in the village. This is common in Igboland. They have told him to marry immediately and he is planning towards that.

I also have stories of folks who had all their father's probably taken away from them by their father's relatives after his death and another of a man who literally abandoned his wife and six children he has with her in order to go off to marry another woman leaving the former woman and her children with nothing because he no longer fancied her and her children. So long as Nigeria is the context, no single tribe or group can claim it is removed from that prevalent evil.

All the people commenting here, ask them how much they have contributed towards their burial expenses, they will say God forbid.

No lesson learned. As a matter of fact, your message should scare more people away from having children than encourage them to do so. Is the man and his brothers not also children to somebody? What if the man has children and they end up killing each other over their father’s uncompleted property?

Shouldn’t you be more concerned about the level of poverty in Nigeria rather than recycling poverty from one generation to another? A man from such a toxic family, where siblings fight and drag over an uncompleted village bungalow, can only breed more of his kind.

On this point I'm completely in sync with you. I will go back to Nigeria when I'm done here, nothing under heaven can entice me. However, the essence of my existence will be independent of my kids' trajectory, if you know what I mean. All I owe a child I birth is proper education, morals and fear of God.

Some months ago a brother and member of our community Association based in Delta State went to village to see the extent work has gone in his new house which he gave his eldest brother money to roof.

This man Mr. Don as popularly called is a jolly good fellow.
He says the truth not minding who will be affected.
He is bold and fearless.
He was married but his wife died without bearing any child for him.
Instead of remarrying, he was bent on finishing his house before marrying again.

Noted: He was 56 years and hypertensive.

Back to the story.

He travelled home to see the work that is going on and to attend a burial in his village in Imo State. On Alighting from the bus inside owerri he had a partial stroke but instead of him to head to hospital in owerri, he decided to get home first. On getting home, his family members said he was poisoned and decided to visit native doctor who also said that he was poisoned.

They started giving him medicine and conducting so many sacrifices but nothing improved and he died 3 weeks later.

Remember he has roofed his house already but this is the most surprising thing. His eldest brothers children shared the room's of his house and furnished them but abandoned the seating room where he will be lied in state for the last time when his corpse return from the mortuary.

The seating room of that building was not touched but the rooms are already being occupied by his brother and children but couldn't plaster or decorate the seating room at least for burial purposes alone.

When we got to their house and saw this I shed tears. Oga Don suffered to build a house which he did not slept in it.
No wife, no children.
Nobody to oppose his brothers or caution them for neglecting the seating room.

This is a true life story.
Even if you hate yourself that you don't want to eat your money, please ensure you have children who will consume those wealth before strangers will do justice to it.

May his soul rest in peace.

Nothing is guaranteed in life. You can have those kids and abandon you n your properties. So many Nigerians born abroad have no ties that can bring them back

This story here is about a man who didn't have a child with his wife and ended up never remarrying, but my guess is you would rather pretend the man desperately wanted a child until the end to fulfil your fantasy of all Nigerian married people wanting children above all? 🙄🙄🙄

2. Like I said, not every Nigerian wants to have kids; thanks to social media, that reality has become much clearer for those who are finally ready to face the truth of life, even in the chaotic bubbles of Nigeria and Africa.

I am sorry but I don't follow Nollywood or African celebrities, so I can't help you there. I only see regular people and know for a fact that there are couples out there who don't even love the idea of marriage, talkless of the idea of having kids.
