Dangote Truck Rams Into Vehicle, Crushes Entire Family, Others In Enugu

A Dangote truck has crushed a family and three other individuals at Four Corner along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as horrific, with a video showing a vehicle completely crushed by the trailer.

"A family were said to have been in the vehicle, with eyewitnesses disclosing that none of them came out alive," a witness stated.

This tragedy comes just a week after a Dangote truck allegedly caused the death of Ruth Otabor, the younger sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna, after crushing her legs over the weekend.

Previously, SaharaReporters reported that the Dangote Group has expressed sorrow over the passing of Ruth Otabor, who was critically injured in a road accident involving one of the company’s trucks in Auchi, Edo State.

Ruth was the sister of Josephine Otabor, Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, popularly known as Phyna.

In a statement released on Sunday, August 31, 2025, the company said it had made arrangements to fly Ruth to India for advanced medical treatment, pending clearance from her doctors.

The group said that since the accident, its officials and insurance partners had been providing full medical and financial support to Ruth and assisting her family.

“On behalf of the entire Dangote Group, we extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and loved ones at this difficult time,” the company’s statement said.

“Since the accident, our officials and insurance partners have been by her side, covering all financial and medical costs and supporting her family.

“Arrangements had been made for her to be flown to India for advanced treatment, pending medical clearance from her doctors. Sadly, despite these efforts and Ruth's brave fight to live, we lost her today.”

The Dangote Group emphasised that safety, accountability, and compassion remain central to its operations and reiterated its commitment to strengthening safety systems and supporting those affected in times of tragedy.

“May God grant her mercy and eternal rest,” the statement concluded.

This really needs to be addressed. It's becoming unbecoming.
Dangote needs to be held accountable for this madness.
He has been getting away with this for a very long time. Why must his trucks be crushing people here and there?

The onus is on him to hire competent and qualified drivers so as to reduce the occurrence of this to the barest minimum.

What baffles me the most is the claim made by VDM that companies now register vehicles under Dangote, evading tax in the process.

What the eff is all this?

Why can't we just rest small in this hell?
Re: Family Of Five Killed In Dangote Truck Accident In Enugu by cyberbro: 9:12am On Sep 04, 2025
I think it's high time Dangote's hiring process for truck driver gets reviewed and their drivers screened for proper truck driving certificate and licence and also checked for drugs, cos this is getting too much.

I have nothing against Dangote himself, but there is something fundamentally wrong with their hiring process for truck drivers.

Re: Family Of Five Killed In Dangote Truck Accident In Enugu by PlasmaTV: 9:14am On Sep 04, 2025
This is an unfortunate series of events.

Dangote should be slammed with a class action lawsuit and be made to pay billions of naira to the families affected.

In the last one month, I can easily recall:
- Phyna's sister
- The one that happened in Auchi, in front of Apst Johnson Suleman's church
- Now, this again!

And we've not taken into account the hit and runs, the near misses, the ones where trailers will bash/brush/scratch vehicles and speed off.

I ask again what is the road safety and Vio doing about trucks in the country? Tankers, Trucks and other heavy vehicles are allowed to move freely without safety checks, they kill road users and damage roads all over the country, yet it's only private vehicles that these people only check and exploit.

Sunday evening in Nasarawa, a Dangote truck stopped for no reason and caused a vehicle behind to crush a keke. 2 passengers died on the spot.

And guess what? Dangote is currently importing 4000 more trucks for his fuel distribution. Stories like these will become a daily occurrence.

Just imagine how Dangote is sucking the blood of poor Nigerians and expanding his wealth in the process!
Things like this is bound to happen in a country where mind-altering drugs are indiscriminately sold and used. I am very sure that most drivers of these Dangote trucks abuse tramadol which cause them to lose coordination or sleep off on wheels thereby ramming into people and other vehicles!
Re: Family Of Five Killed In Dangote Truck Accident In Enugu by Cleanmouth: 9:30am On Sep 04, 2025
Oh my God this is painful. Dangote should stop employing underage illiterate drivers. I have never seen Julius Berger trucks have such high rate of accident.

How will Nigeria cope with the new Petroleum tankers that is coming on board. The carnage will be worst.

May God comfort the family of dead.

Have you seen the reckless of this Drivers,
When you see them Driving on the road, they drive as if they are the Only Living thing moving on the road,.

They see Keke Napep as a tiny Ant

They see Buses and other Cars as Grass cutter.

I think is time that Federal Government makes a Law that any Truck Driver involved in an Accident, after Investigations, if found Guilty should be Jailed at least 5 yrs.

Some Accidents are available, but recklessness runs in their System.

Truck drivers are very wild and madder than Vio/frsc officers.

When you multiply 56km/hr of heavy duty trucks and about 20 tons of cement they carry, you get a crushing force/momentum that no contemporary car design can withstand.

RIP to the departed.

The train doesn't cover every part of Nigeria, also you still need to move goods to final destinations with these trucks...

Every accident involving Dangote truck ... the same cry ... what changed? ...nothing. What has Dangote done to address the problem?... nothing. What has the Police done to address the problem? Nothing. Do we ever blame the Police? Never ... but they are the main cause. Why? If they enforce the laws .... have checkpoints to check roadworthiness of the trucks ... check the drivers for licence and ensure they are sober.... most accidents will be avoided. Then if Dangote Group is sued in court .... they would ensure they have trained and disciplined drivers ...and their trucks are road worthy. Until such ... seems like their motto is deliver as fast as you can and rush back for more.
